Seasons greetings from The Amp, with this being our final edition of the year. This week, Apple has acquired exclusive rights to new Peanuts content featuring Snoopy and Charlie Brown. Peanuts stake-holder DHX will produce the content. It has also inked an overall TV deal with Justin Lin, the director of some of the more recent Fast and the Furious movies.
South American football league Conmebol has sold rights to a spread of operators including Facebook, while Amazon has added NBA League Pass to its domestic channels service.
In eSports, InnoGames has partnered with millennial-focussed video network Zoomin.TV to produce content, while in Spain, Movistar has dropped its own eSports channel, Movistar eSports.
Orange has announced plans to launch a 5G service in 17 European cities next year, while AT&T has rolled out a trial 5G service to select businesses in 12 US cities, with plans to release a 5G-compatible router in further markets next year. Elsewhere, UK fibre infrastructure provider CityFibre has raised £1.12bn in debt funding to accelerate its fibre rollout.
