The Government has announced the publication of an Implementation Plan, explaining how the Government will implement the recommendations made by Dame Judith Hackitt in her review of building regulations and fire safety, published following the Grenfell Tower fire. Read more

The Housing, Communities and Local Government Committee has launched a new inquiry into Modern Methods of Construction and their potential role in boosting housing supply. Read more

Homes (Fitness for human habitation) Bill receives Royal Assent 


Under this new Act, landlords of both social and privately rented properties must make sure that their properties meet certain standards at the beginning and throughout a tenancy. If they fail to do this, tenants have the right to take legal action. Read more

100 years of council housing - a time for celebration
 
Next year marks the 100th anniversary of the 1919 ‘Addison Act’, which paved the way for large-scale council housing. At a time when council housing and council tenants are often unfairly stigmatised, ARCH believes it is time to celebrate the contribution council housing has made to society. Read more

RTB sales fall 22% in Quarter 2


Latest figures show that councils sold an estimated 2,417 dwellings under the RTB in Quarter 2 of 2018-19 (July to September 2018). This is a decrease of 22% on the same quarter of 2017-18. Read more
