Laying the groundwork for widespread agroforestry in the Midwest
Celebrating the
2018 Perennial Farm Gathering!
Thanks to all of you who joined us for the Perennial Farm Gathering last weekend!
It was our biggest and best one yet.
We had over 170 people attend our 6th Perennial Farm Gathering in Madison, Wisconsin on December 7th and 8th! The PFG featured the ever-popular 5-minute nutshell presentations, perennial beverage tastings, the premiere of a mini-documentary, a keynote speech by farmer and author Greg Judy, and a variety of breakout sessions and networking opportunities.

We are already at work planning next year's Perennial Farm Gathering! If you have suggestions for speakers or topics, please email them to us at info@savannainstitute.org.
Greg Judy, a farmer and silvopasture pioneer from central Missouri, delivers the keynote address at the 2018 Perennial Farm Gathering.
Panelists in the "Principles of Success" breakout session at the 2018 PFG: Jackie Hoch, Anton Ptak, Jim Riddle, Rachel Henderson, Hannah Breckbill, Wandy Peralta, Kathy Dice, and Tom Wahl, and moderators Leah Potter-Weight and Marisa Lanker.
We're excited to share two new videos in our Pioneer Agroforestry Farm Tour Video Series!

Click here to see our full playlist of videos.
Harry and Jackie Hoch have been managing Hoch Orchard and Gardens outside La Crescent, Minnesota for over 30 years. "Our goal is to have everything be in balance," says Jackie. "We're trying to mimic a natural system."
Terry Durham established River Hills Harvest with other elderberry producers across the Midwest to market elderberry products nationally. "It's very rewarding," he says. "We're doing all the research right here in the Midwest."
Finally, we'd like to thank everyone who contributed to our Giving Tree Campaign this year.

Your support is what makes events like the Perennial Farm Gathering and projects like the Pioneer Agroforestry Farm Tour Video Series possible. We're looking forward to doing even more in 2019 to lay the groundwork for agroforestry in the Midwest!
