Dear Friends,
Have you ever heard words that stop you in your tracks? This morning when I dropped off my two youngest at their elementary school, the principal approached my car to ask how Ella, my oldest daughter, is doing at her new middle school. I shared all of the things that Ella has thrown herself into and she responded: “Don’t let her do too much. Her joy is her drive.” I pulled over and wrote down her words. Our joy is our drive. Could this simple yet wise statement be true for all of us? When we are joyful, we are driven to do better, be better. When we are driven, we are joyful.
In these days of endless connectivity and smartphones, perhaps we should replace “Stop to smell the roses” with “Stop to listen.” When we pay attention, we can find wisdom everywhere.
