It has been a busy month for me in the knitting department, as I have released three more patterns since my last newsletter! These patterns would all make great last-minute gift projects, and two of them are also perfect for teaching beginners to knit.

But the most exciting part is that I have finally published my free How to Knit Tutorial (www.talenawinters.com/how-to-knit). This tutorial is available online and as a downloadable PDF. It goes through all the steps you need to learn how to knit, from choosing yarn and needles, understanding gauge and cast ons, and even introducing new knitters to our awesome knitting community.

The tutorial can be used on its own (and would be a great support if you are teaching someone to knit), but it was written to support the Building Blocks Cowl/Hood, a fantastic beginner project written with graded skill levels in mind.

At one point, I had promised newsletter subscribers that you would have free access to the How to Knit Tutorial, which I'd intended to create as a paid subscription part of my site.

However, my platform provider doesn't allow me to do this, so I decided instead to make the entire tutorial free and charge for the pattern only. And, as my free gift to you, you get the pattern for free.

If you have signed up for this newsletter since Monday, you should already have received this free gift. For everyone else, you can download the pattern here:

Did you know?

Many simple knitting mistakes could be avoided or easily fixed if we understood what we were looking at better. That's why I created the free Reading Your Knitting series. So far, there are four parts, starting with Knit and Purl stitches. The series also includes Catching Wrong Stitches, Increases and Decreases, and Reading Cables. Check them out!
