Dear HomeWorks Family,

Happy Holidays! 2018 has certainly been a big year for us. Your support allowed us to run our second Summer Scholars program with ten scholars from five schools, a large leap from our five scholars last year. I was truly amazed by the student’s eagerness to learn and passion for their community. They discussed their unique challenges and opportunities as women through workshops with Girls Unlimited and Womenspace. Throughout the summer, the scholars researched and created solutions to a challenge within their community. They presented their findings to a panel of judges including the Mayor of Trenton, Reed Gusciora.

We certainly had a lot of fun too! The scholars enjoyed an overnight trip to the Barn at Gravity Hill, made tie-dye, made music videos, and ran their hearts out at field day, to name just a few things we did this summer.

We feel so fortunate to have been a part of these students lives, and our team can’t wait to see how they inspire us next. I am currently earning my New Jersey teaching license and looking forward to working full time on HomeWorks in the spring. Our goal is to launch a 4-month program in September-December 2019.
