“Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and the earth; Yours is the dominion, O Lord, and You exalt Yourself as head over all.” – 1 Chronicles 29:11

There is a point on every roller coaster ride where the car stops and takes a pause. For a brief moment you get a breathtaking view of the entire park. The moment provides an inspiring perspective just before the craziness begins.

It is important in life to occasionally take a break and gain our bearings by taking a view from the top.

When Jesus came, he spoke of “the kingdom of God”, the reconciled place where relationship and action harmonizes with the Father. This is the "theme park" Christianity. It is where our ride is located.

In that place, we are given a job, a task, an occupation. We are given a path and a responsibility to traverse it. The craziness has a context, and a purpose. It fits seamlessly with all the other rides, and all the other riders. Because they all have the same designer.

Taking a brief pause each day can give us a chance to look around and be reminded of the context in which we are journeying. This is the vision behind the Yellow Balloon devotionals.

These brief times of reflection give us a minute to catch our breath and be in awe of our surroundings. To prepare us for the journey we are on, because the ride ahead is wild and exciting.
