Dear Friends,

Do you realise how much hope and happiness you’ve given others in 2018? While looking for images for this newsletter we realised how much has been done by you for the sole benefit of others. We thought that worth highlighting.

We have grown in 2017 and in 2018 we embarked on a major review to grow further. We found that while there are many ways of doing this, very few fitted with our core “stepping stone” approach – providing stepping stones from poverty to opportunity.

We hope that you will enjoy reading our new, shorter format newsletter and that you want to continue or to become a part of our work.

We are lucky in the many dedicated supporters we have and often are pleasantly suprised by the creative way they support us (we’ve detailed some below). Perhaps you’ve an idea on how you can help? If not funding us directly then perhaps your company has a Corporate Social Responsibility programme and you could introduce us or recommend us to them? We’d enjoy highlighting your impact in one of our newsletters next year.

Our deepest thanks to all of you who contribute in so many ways to our work. We cannot do this without you.

Your Friends,

Philanthropy Connections Foundation Team
There are many ways you can help us financially, either for a specific project or to fund our work. It can be a single payment or a monthly donation, and, no matter how small, it is always extremely appreciated.

Please note that if you make your donation before the end of the year it will still be tax deductible for 2018.

The Many Varied Ways We Are Supported

Little Stig, a barstool and a baguette.

We, and the projects we assist, are very grateful to have the sponsors and donors who support us. The range of supporters and how they raise funds is wide, and often quirky. From the substantial solid continued support of our large donors to Little Stig on his trek to Everest Base Camp, we continue to be happily surprised. Read more

Why We Do What We Do

Effective impact, personal success
At a Netherlands-Thai Chamber of Commerce award dinner in 2017 we met the people behind Learning Compass, one of the foundations supporting scholarships. They asked us if we knew of any students that would be applicable for their funding. We reached out to one of our partners and found the wonderful Mol. Click here to hear her own words about the impact of this scholarship on her life and her family.   Read more

Featured Project from 2018

Friends Without Borders
In 2017 the support for our stepping stones/bottom up approach grew and resulted in a few major donations. With this we did what we said we do: to look for great local initiatives targeted on giving opportunities to marginalised communities towards a future with options. Read about the wonderful initiative of FWB and their extensive programme to train and support teachers.

Looking Forwards

More projects, more staff, more fundraising.

Apart from maintaining our funding and management of the current projects (25 projects with 14 partners) we have already started on some prospective projects for 2019 covering the construction of a village library, a new kitchen to replace an old and unhygenic one, a new primary school, and toilet blocks. We hope to have some good news on these and other projects in the new year.
