Dear Friend,

Merry Christmas! From everyone at The Trussell Trust, I wish you a day filled with joy as we celebrate the birth of a child filled with hope and promise.

As I take time over the holidays to think of those who will be finding Christmas an increasingly stressful time, I am awed and humbled by the reminder of the compassionate communities across the UK who are helping people in crisis. For many this year, foodbanks have provided a sanctuary, a safe place when they need it most.

It isn’t right that anyone should have to come to a foodbank, ever. Together with you and our network of foodbanks, we have done so much this year to work to a future where people won’t need to turn to foodbanks. Together we have challenged the structural failures that are pulling so many people under. Together we have called for a benefits system that provides sufficient money and support to anyone who needs its help; for work that is secure and pays fairly; and for local support that fills the gap when someone is hit by something unexpected.

We still have so much to do but standing together, shoulder to shoulder with everyone affected by poverty in our communities, we are a powerful force. Poverty and hunger are not inevitable and together we can end them.

From everyone at The Trussell Trust, thank you for your support this year. We’d like to wish you and your family a joyful Christmas and all the best for the New Year.

With warm wishes,
