*Retail at Takoma Theater: Rock Creek Property Group, in partnership with Children’s National Health System, recently announced that Turning Natural and Lost Sock Roasters have signed leases to anchor the two ground-floor retail spaces at the historic Takoma Theater. More here.
*4th / Cedar / Blair Intersection: In November, ANC 4B01 Commissioner-Elect Evan Yeats provided an update regarding the District Department of Transportation's proposed plans for the 4th / Cedar / Blair intersection. The latest plans are available here. Despite a projected start date of the beginning of 2019, the DC Department of Transportation has recently indicated that the project will begin in late spring or early summer of 2019. Evan and I are coordinating with the Department to present at the January 28th ANC 4B meeting to answer questions regarding the scope and timeline of the project. If you have questions but are unable to attend the meeting, please send them to me so that I may share them during the meeting.
*Proposed Development at 308 Carroll St, NW: A proposed development by SGA Companies at 300-308 Carroll St, NW, in Takoma will be on the January Historic Preservation Review Board agenda, and is therefore likely to be presented at the January 28th ANC 4B meeting. The project includes Hilltop Hostel, as well as the space previously occupied by La Mano and currently occupied by Takoma Station Barber Shop and Spicy Delight, and the adjoining dwelling. Additional details can be found in my Facebook post summarizing a Single Member District 4B07 meeting regarding the proposed development.

What's happening in local government?

Check out these DC Council legislative and other updates.
- The DC Council will vote on the Clean Energy DC Omnibus Act tomorrow, December 18th. The legislation would be one of the strongest clean energy laws in the nation, if passed, although some have criticized recent changes that appear to weaken the proposed legislation. More here.
- The DC Council approved legislation imposing limits on who can give money to candidates for office.
- The DC Council approved legislation to decriminalize Metro fare evasion.
- The DC Council approved legislation to lower the commercial property tax rate, drawing criticism from advocates that the money could be used for government services and to address housing and homelessness.
- Proposed legislation to establish a working group of city agencies to consider public restrooms passed its first DC Council vote.
- Ward 6 Councilmember Charles Allen supported a petition against any "deal that gives away a single square foot of land or a single District tax dollar to build a new stadium for billionaire NFL owner Dan Snyder."
- A DC Superior Court Judge blocked elections officials from considering 35,000 signatures to force a referendum vote on the DC Council's repeal of Initiative 77, which would have raised the tipped minimum wage. Ward 6 Councilmember Charles Allen requested an explanation for the errors by the Board of Elections that led to the signatures being thrown out.
- Advisory Neighborhood Commission 4C voted 7-1-1 to request an investigation into Ward 4 Councilmember Brandon T. Todd to see if his office "ran afoul of DC law and the Council's Code of Ethics by using government resources on behalf of an election."
