Popular Chinese Ride-hailing app Didi Chuxing tackles financial services
The company is now rolling out a line of financial services products, including car insurance, crowdfunded medical insurance, and personal loans for its drivers and riders. This market entry pits the company against Alibaba and Tencent, as the latter has invested in Go-Jek and the former in Grab. Read more. 

Bitcoin futures exchange Bakkt raises USD 182.5 million 
Backers include Boston Consulting Group, Microsoft, and Pantera Capital. The exchange has not launched, but operations are set to begin early 2019.  Read more 


PNC Bank demos credit cards with changing CVV codes
The US-based bank is currently testing the credit cards with the shifting CVV codes with SMEs. The pilot will gauge how often the codes need to be tested to prevent fraud while still allowing users to make purchases. Read more

PayPal taps Temenos for digital banking services
The digital payment platform selected the banking software systems provider to support its businesses in many locations, among them the US, UK, Germany, and Australia. Read more 

Singapore Life nets USD 20 million 
The Singapore-based insurtech raised the funds from Aflac and will use them to support expansion into Southeast Asia. To date, Singapore Life has raised USD 103 million. Read more

Staying Connected: Danish Bank Spar Nord and IFTTT collaborate
The bank and If This Then That (IFTTT) came together to allow the former's users to connect their bank with digital services, as an integral part of the bank’s Open Banking strategy that gives customers the opportunity to customise their interactions with the bank. Read more

Millennial Mobile Payment Users: A Look into their Personal Finances and Financial Behaviors

Underpinning this report is an aim to uncover the way in which fintech services are being utilised. The research uncovers far less risk averse behaviour in millennial mobile payments users than non-users. Despite being more diverse and better educated, the users were far more likely to overdraw and use high cost borrowing (amongst other activities).
