THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING NEWSMATCH

When NewsMatch 2018 launched last November, 155 nonprofit news organizations joined in a shared call-to-action: Stand up for journalism that strengthens democracy. Over the past two months, they were joined by tens of thousands of individuals across the country who donated to nonprofit news, ensuring the stories they care most about will get told in 2019.

NewsMatch is still tallying the numbers from this year's campaign and will announce the final amount raised next month. But feedback from newsrooms and data from NewsMatch.org makes it clear that millions of dollars have been raised, making 2018 another record-breaking year. From coast to coast, donors embraced NewsMatch, and with it, the idea that giving to journalism will be a core part of their charitable giving now and in the future.

Our deepest thanks to the funders, donors, newsrooms and everyone else who helped make NewsMatch once again a success!

NEW SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM FOR INN NEWSROOMS

The Missouri School of Journalism will subsidize four internships placing students of color with Institute for Nonprofit News member newsrooms this summer. The pilot program is being funded by Damon Kiesow, the new Knight Chair in Digital Editing and Producing at Mizzou. Working with INN, Kiesow is recruiting employers that can offer an internship program related to product management, editorial, marketing, audience development or related roles. The school will provide students a $4,500 stipend and ask employers to provide $1,600 for a 10-week undergraduate intern or $2,500 for a graduate student intern. If you are interested in participating, complete the application by Feb. 1, 2019. Apply here.

2019-20 RJI FELLOWSHIP APPLICATION PERIOD OPEN

The Reynolds Journalism Institute is now accepting applications for 2019-20 fellows. RJI is looking to advance new products, services, ideas and storytelling techniques with funding, mentoring, testing and promotion. RJI offers three types of fellowships. Residential fellows earn $80,000 and spend eight months at the Missouri School of Journalism. Want to work from your home base? They also offer $20,000 non-residential fellowships. Newsrooms and civil society organizations can apply for institutional fellowships that offer $20,000 stipends. All three options include additional funds for travel, technical development and marketing. The application deadline is Jan. 31, 2019. Read the full details.
