Happy New Year 2019!
Our hearts are filled with gratitude as we reflect on God’s goodness since our move to France in 2016. Thank you for your faithful prayerful and financial support.
2018 was a year of gradual, steady growth for the work, especially since the summer. What encourages us most is that the new folks seem to be attracted not only by a loving atmosphere, but also by solid Bible teaching and in some cases a need for serious pastoral care. One young mother for whom we have prayed was present for the first time at Monday’s Watch Night Service. Would you pray for her, the father of her two children, and the others as we attempt to develop meaningful relationships in order to best know how to help them.
With new growth it is imperative that we continue making progress this year in shoring up the doctrinal foundations of the church. Do pray for patience, wisdom, and the ability to accurately communicate in our multicultural context. “That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.” (Colossians 4:4)
The Home Front
Melanie likes to describe Mike’s facial expressions in the minutes after his hearing aides were first activated in late August. The difference in everyday life and ministry cannot be overstated. Thank you for praying and giving!
But the thrill of hearing sounds long since dormant cannot compare to walking Catherine “down the aisle” on November 10th. It was a cold day for Greenville, SC, but warm with fellowship of friends and family from far and wide. The wedding was a wonderful testimony of God’s grace through words and atmosphere.
Back Across the Pond
In February we will have the joy of participating in a two-week “round-robin” mission’s conference in several churches in Idaho. We will travel there by way of Québec where we will minister and see Stephanie’s family. Stephanie and Jérémie’s fourth child, our eighth grandchild is due February 15th. Melanie plans to leave the Idaho Conference in time to give them at least two full weeks of help after the birth.
