Community Events

Here are some of our favorite bike events in the #bikenyc community this January!

5BBC Polar Bear Ride
Tuesday, January 1
10:00am, City Hall, Manhattan
More info

The 5 Borough Bike Club (5BBC) will be joining the Polar Bears to ring in the new year on Coney Island. Afterwards, to warm up, they'll make a sprint up to Brighton, with a visit to the Saint-Petersburg Global Trade House, for some Russian Xmas shopping (which is still to come, a week after), and some new year's Russian broth (free-flowing carafes of vodka, or so they say) at the infamous Georgian restaurant, Primorski's.

Women's Bike Chains & Derailleurs Workshop
Tuesday, January 22
6:30-8:30pm, REI Soho, 303 Lafayette St, Manhattan
More info

A well-tuned bike can help make your riding smooth and efficient. Ready to learn how to prevent or eliminate annoyances on your beloved bike? Join REI's expert bike techs for a workshop on how to care for and maintain your bike's derailleurs and chain. Along the way, you'll learn best practices for care and cleaning surrounded by like-minded women. You'll get plenty of get-your-hands-dirty chances to practice. Bring your own bike or practice on one of ours.
