New Hope UMC Operational Team

There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them.  There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.  – 1 Corinthians 12:5-6

Did you know there is a team of leaders in place to help guide our church to the next level?  There is – it is called the Operational Team (OT).  Why do we need such a team?  Every organization, including churches, has a life cycle.  It starts, it grows, it matures and it declines.  We have seen examples of this with the churches we adopted, just as we see it with businesses.
As innovative organizations near and reach the maturity stage, leadership looks for the next level – a new life cycle based on the realities of today and the expectations of tomorrow – which will propel the organization forward into a new growth cycle.  They reconfirm their mission and those things they will not compromise in pursuit of that mission.  They establish a new vision of where they want to be.  And they build new strategies for achieving that vision. That is what the New Hope OT has been working on.
The OT, which can only make recommendations to the Leadership Team of our church, consists of three pastors – Jamie Westlake, Roberto Chaple and Vicki Harrison, and three lay leaders – Becky Jordan, Dave Shapiro and Paul Brooks.  We have made a significant commitment to this work, meeting once a month for eight hours. Working with a cross denominational coaching organization called Spiritual Leadership, Inc. (SLI), we have fine-tuned New Hope’s mission statement: To make more and better followers of Jesus Christ; defined our strategies: Reach, Connect, Grow, Send; led the adoption processes for Orient Park and Dover; and much more.  Over the coming weeks, we will share more detail on these and other specific areas the OT is focused on.

Prayer: Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done.  Father, we pray that we at New Hope might be faithful followers of your Son Jesus and strong leaders in the communities we serve.  In the name of Jesus, who makes all things possible.  Amen.
