Surge

Talbot Heath School in Bournemouth are about to open a new design hub and place art at the heart of their curriculum. They advocate STEAM education: science, technology, engineering, art and maths.

Talbot Heath have commissioned a sculptural installation that is about how water likes to move.

There will be a water vapour unit integrated into the 4m tall works. It opens in Spring 2019 and will be accompanied by films, an exhibition about process and other sculpture in the grounds. Date to be confirmed but we are aiming for early May.

A new construction method

I have long been researching an alternative to fiberglass as the primary material of choice for every sculpture. Fiberglass is an amazing material and is ideally suited to floating sculpture but in other circumstances this new method employs a stainless steel skeleton, mesh, a cement and marble dust render and then my glass skin.

In 2018

The Himalayan gardens now has three permanent floating sculptures and we installed the Lily Pads in Spring 2018. The gardens have famous collections of rhododendron, azalea, camellia and magnolia and the colours of the sculptures refer to the blooms encountered as a visitor descends into the gardens.

It was great to see Launch in Regents place this year. Thanks to Artiq for arranging and to Regents Place to hosting

We are thrilled to have placed Vermeer panels in several collections this year and are looking forward to following up with a new body of work in progress and commissioned works too.

Also in 2019

Rise is one of my new sculptures going to the Rococo Gardens in 2019. Hope to see you there!
