NEW! Career Point Lab 

We have partnered with Career Point North Bay! If you are looking for drop-in help with your computer, smart phone (iPhone or Android) or tablet, come to the new lab at the Career Point North Bay office off Smith Ranch Road!  We will have staff in the lab to help with any basic computer or smart phone questions.  Also, if you want help improving your typing or word processing skills, this is a great place to start. Check the Career Point website at  http://careerpointnorthbay.org for closures and holiday schedules. All sessions are FREE!

Career Point Lab Drop-In Hours:
Mondays: 10:00am-12noon
Wednesdays:  2:15pm-4:45pm
Thursdays: 12:30-3:00pm

Classes are offered during the following lab dates/times. Note: space is limited. Students accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.

How to Make a Photobook

You've taken lots of photos on your smart phone or camera. Besides sharing them online, you can make your favorites into a permanent keepsake book. In this class, you'll get hands-on practice using photobook software. You'll learn tips for selecting photos, layout techniques, simple photo editing, and more!

For the class, select 5-10 of your favorite photos to bring (thumb drive preferred). This is a great followup to the Managing Your Photos class. You will leave this class having completed several pages of your books.

What's New on your iPhone/iPad?

A lot has changed on your iPhone and iPad with the latest ios updates. Come and find out how to use things such as new Siri features, new map features, and fun new tools to improve text messaging. Also, we will show you what a widget is and how the touch ID system has been improved to help you lock and unlock your phone. Finally, come learn about photo organization tools that let you search and group photos together for easier access. This class is a great refresher for those who have used the phone for a little while and a good overview for those new to the iphone and ipad world.

How to Use Your Smartphone or Tablet

Android Basics 2: Essential Applications
Have you been using a smart phone or tablet for a little while but still feel like you don't know what you are doing?  Need to review some of the basic features of your device and see what else it can do?  This course will review some of the basics and also show you how to get the most out of your built-in apps including: Photo editing, storing and retrieving photos, Calendar, E-mail, Texting, Maps/GPS, and more!   We'll introduce the steps to find and install new apps, and show you how to update, delete and organize your apps for easy access.  A perfect sequel to the Using Android Smart Phone & Tablets Basics 1 course.  (Samsung, LG, Nokia, Google, Microsoft, etc)

Social Media for Seniors! 

Are you afraid to put your face on Facebook? Do you know how to tweet, post, or snap?  If you are in the dark when in comes to social media, this is the class for you.  We will show you what happens on the most popular social media sites, like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram.  We will explain why people like them (and don't like them), and show you how to keep your privacy while using them.  No experience required (you don't even need to have an account).  Come and see what all the buzz is about! Bring your smartphone or tablet so you can try it out yourself!
