Hello Indivisible Resistance!

You marched, you called, you canvassed, and now we have a new, blue Congress! Join us on the first day of the legislative session to rally for a strong H.R. 1, the bill that will protect our democratic norms, hold officials in all branches of government accountable for corruption, get money out of politics, and expand voting rights and access.

On Thursday, January 3rd, at noon, we’ll be rallying outside Rep. Garamendi’s office to wish him well in the new congress, and to ask that he fight for a strong H.R. 1 that protects and expands voting rights, accountability, and transparency.

In order to achieve our other priorities, we need a democracy where everyone can vote and have their votes counted, where corrupt officials will be held accountable, and where money doesn’t equal speech. Join us in demanding those protections by supporting H.R. 1.

Bring your self, your friends, and a warm jacket. Bring your concerns for the next congress, and the issues you want them to tackle - whether it’s a Green New Deal, or Medicare for All. Write it on a post-it note, or write one when you arrive, and deliver it directly to Garamendi’s staff.

Please let us know if you can bring snacks or warm beverages. This is a kid-friendly event.

See you in the New Year!

Call scripts this week:

Show up to Rep. Garamendi's office for our rally Jan. 3rd!

Meanwhile, call to say: stay strong during the shutdown; no Wall!

A monument to racism is unacceptable. Tell our Members of Congress: no money for a wall, a "fence", for separation of families, or for any part of Trump's racist agenda. The Trump Shutdown is still in effect, and we want to tell our Members of Congress to stay strong in the budget negotiations. Since the House will be in Democratic hands in January, the Trump administration cannot pass a budget without Democratic support. Tell our members of Congress, especially Rep. Garamendi, not to include a penny in the new budget for Trump's racist agenda, separation of families, or a wall (by any name.) Thank them for standing up so far; insist they use their leverage in the New Year and do not cooperate with Republicans' cruel and racist agenda.

CA state action:
Take Governor-Elect Gavin Newsom’s California Priorities Survey!

Let Newsom know we expect him to uphold his campaign promises.

Click “other” to go beyond the generalized statements.

Here’s some suggested text to get you started, your own words are best!

Healthcare:

Healthcare is a basic need. All Californians should have access to affordable quality healthcare. We need you to pursue healthcare for All Californians.

Climate:

-We need action now on the threat and impacts of disastrous wildfires. Communities are suffering and many more are vulnerable.

-Develop and promote specific plans that are fair and protect workers and communities to phase out and stop fossil fuel extraction.

Affordable Housing:

-The pursuit of economic fairness begins with access to affordable housing for all. Food and shelter are core human needs, too often people are forced to prioritize one over the other with devastating consequences. We need swift, economically fair and responsible action.

-We need swift and smart action to address the housing crisis. Regulations, oversight and partnerships with local county and public agencies are critical to ensuring corruption is forced out of the implementation of bold building plans.

Our next General meeting is Thursday, Jan. 3rd @ 7-8:30pm at Congregation Bet Haverim
1715 Anderson Rd, Davis, California 95616
