December 2018
So, I'm sitting here at just after 3 am on New Year's Eve/Day in my living room wondering why I'm starting to work on this Newsletter. The only reason I can come up with (besides that I'm just plain crazy) is that I care too much about my work in the poker world and about being consistent in sending one of these out each month to allow myself to go to sleep before clicking "Send."

Knowing that you guys are out there, always being so encouraging of the work I do, make it all worthwhile. Thank you.

I've got LOTS of December highlights to share with you, so here goes:

ELI ELEZRA'S AUTOBIOGRAPHY: NOW AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE!

Just a couple days ago, Eli broke the news, Tweeting out a picture of himself holding the first copy of his autobiography, entitled "Pulling the Trigger," (which I translated from the original Hebrew into English) published by Two Plus Two.

To celebrate the book's release, I published a short video interview that I recorded with Eli in Jerusalem back in October. I hope you enjoy watching it.

BIG PODCAST NEWS

For those who might've missed the announcement, I've been tapped as the new host of the well-renowned Red Chip Poker Podcast. We've already recorded over half a dozen episodes and a new one will be released each week during 2019. The first one, with poker media veteran Lee Davy, is slated to drop tomorrow, so keep your eyes (and ears) peeled.

Thanks so much to the iNinja Poker Tour for sponsoring this newsletter. Their next series will take place at Reno's Atlantis Poker Room from March 7-17 and it will include half a dozen separate events with a combined six-figure prize pool guaranteed.

"RUNNING WELL -- I completed my 1,000 km charity poker challenge!

I've been updating you about my charity initiative each month, and I'm thrilled to report that not only did I make it to the finish line and complete my 1,000 km of running, but we also succeeded in hitting our $10,000 fundraising goal for Save a Child's Heart (SACH), which aims to improve the quality of pediatric cardiac care for children in developing countries.

Upwards of 40 individuals and companies stepped up to pledge support, with donations ranging anywhere from $10 to a $1,000 match of my own personal donation. In particular, it was astounding to witness as over 25% of those donors and over 15% of donated funds poured in during this past month alone!

I decided to broadcast my final 15 km run of the year on Facebook Live (replays available here), and I must say that it was an exhilarating experience to interact with so many awesome supporters of this initiative all over the world during the over 90-minute-long live stream.

As of yet, I'm uncertain as to how to continue my Running Well challenge in 2019, but rest assured, I'm already thinking of ways to make it bigger and better. The running never stops!

#PSPC HERE I COME!

In just a few days, I'll be heading off to my first poker trip of the year, to Paradise Island in the Bahamas, to cover the PokerStars Players Championship (PSPC) between January 6-10. Expect BIG things, as I've got some really exciting content planned. That's not just hype, folks... BIG things are coming, so stay tuned!

It's now past 4:30 am, and believe me when I say that I'm smiling just as broadly as that picture below, as I finally click Send. I hope you enjoy this Newsletter as much as I've enjoyed putting it together for you.

As always,
your feedback, constructive or otherwise, is most welcome.
Happy New Year to you all, thanks so much once again for your support, and best of luck at and away from the tables in 2019!

Witnessing ‘The Tank’ Get Shattered

Poker has gotten tougher to win at than ever before, which makes it that much more difficult for newer players to build up the courage to take a seat at the felt. Ridiculing such inexperienced players is literally the worst course of action for veteran players to take.

In this op-ed, our newest contributor, Mike Patrick, recounts a scene he witnessed at the table that quite frankly made him sick, where one of the regs decided to “shatter the tank.” The lessons should be obvious to anyone reading this article.
