HAPPY NEW YEAR!

It has been a good year, and I am grateful for all the support many of you have lent me personally and in my work. I feel very lucky to be able to make work, engage with so many amazing people and to keep learning. The best part of it all at this stage,  is interacting with others....my biggest hope is that we have a change in government this year however.

2018 began at the Banff Center residency, where I created a new body of work consisting of 8 x 10 wet collodion photograms about bygone technology. I developed a new technique for the photogram with wet collodion. I also created more stereo photographs, passed my VIVA VOCE exam for the PhD in studio art at Chelsea College of Art London  in May and earned tenure at KSU. A new and second studio in Kansas City has been invigorating, to meet collectors and engage with the art community there. This year I presented at the UAAC conference and was interviewed by Brainard Carey for Yale University Radio, exhibited at the Foto Focus Biennial  with Wave Pool Gallery (announced in Artforum and Art News), Center Santa Fe and many more venues. Lastly an artist page for "The Public Utteraton Machines", my recent public art project was just published at LMJ MIT Press. As an audio recording/ researching public work in New York, it fits well into Leonardo Music Journal.

The image above is an anaglyph (view in 3D with red cyan glasses!) entitled "The Moon, or Tribute to the Spiral Jetty" - an image that seems fitting for today. I will be posting more anaglyphs of my stereo work this year, and working on new ways to exhibit these via polarized projection on a silver screen.

Wishing you a superb New Year with much learning and exploring, moving forward, always!

Rebecca
