We always recommend first to back up your data. Crash Plan is our top choice in backup recommendations and we use it ourselves for our own data backup. It encrypts the data before it goes up to their 'cloud' and never deletes data that you may delete off of your devices. Those are some of the top features it offers among price never increasing no matter how much data you are storing with them.
In addition Windows also offers some form of native protection against ransomware.. You can find out more about it here. We can help further protect your computer from ransomware remotely if you decide you want to utilize the built-in ransomware protection Windows offers or if you need help to install/setup Crash Plan. Just let us know.
