What is Shiny exactly?
Shiny was started to discover, support and connect talented new directors with the established commercial filmmaking industry,

What to expect?
We usually email every couple of weeks, sometimes more often when we get close to events.
Our most frequent events are 'Meet The Commissioners' events (fairly self explanatory). They've been in London so far, though we plan to set up more further afield in 2019. The events are always at industry venues, always have free food & drink and are open to all at a fairly low door price. Directors come from far and wide - so far we know about travellers from Berlin, Barcelona, Portsmouth and Manchester :).
Sometimes you'll be emailed exclusive articles we've created with our jury network, with insights and tips about the commercial filmmaking industry.
Sometimes you'll get news about other people's events, awards and so on - people/ organisations who we think are fantastic.
Submissions
The main thing we do is work with submissions from emerging directors worldwide.
Everyone who's eligible who submits work under 5 mins run-time, gets their work rated and gets written feedback from 3 of the world-class organisations in our jury network.
The highest rated work gets:
- screened at the 'Meet The Commissioners' events,
- the director listed on the #ShinyList
- shortlisted for the Shiny Awards.
You already know we like your work, so you can be pretty confident it would be highly rated by the jury network. We charge for submissions - usually £35/ €40/ $49 - but there's no obligation to submit, in order to come to 'Meet The Commissioners' or get news and the articles.
