It’s easy to find yourself staying indoors more when the winter is at its darkest.
But there are lots of good reasons to get outside even when it’s cold. And one of them is to ensure you are getting enough sunshine in your life.
Why?
Because exposure to the sun is crucial for the formation of Vitamin D3 in your body.
The sunshine vitamin
Vitamin D3 is important for the immune system, it helps to maintain strong muscles and bones, and it maintains muscle function in ageing among other things.
While you can get Vitamin D3 in some foods (like salmon) as part of a healthy, balanced diet, exposure to sunlight is one of the main ways your body forms it.
But this isn’t always easy when sunlight is in short supply!
Vitamin D3 deficiency
If you don’t get enough Vitamin D3, this can lead to deficiency.
Eating a healthy diet and getting outside more are both essential, but you may want to top up your Vitamin D3 levels – and that’s where we can help.
