Hello, <<First Name>>.

Welcome to the January edition of eNews. There's vacancies for Web Editors and E-News Assistants at the moment so why not apply and help the Society? A great New Years resolution would be to become more involved in its inner workings or make a commitment to improve your playing?

As always if you'd like to include anything in the February edition please email news@srp.org.uk by 18th January.

Merry Christmas,
Louise
SRP Publicity Officer

First, I’d like to wish every one of our members a very Happy Christmas and a very joyful and healthy New Year.

Over the years, our membership has been growing steadily, and if like me you enjoy meeting on a regular basis with your recorder playing friends in your branches or your homes for recorder playing sessions, you probably also enjoy reading regular news about the SRP and the many branches.

The SRP community is now large and diverse, and effective communication is more important than ever. The Recorder Magazine very kindly allows us to publish four pages in each edition for SRP related news and features,  and our SRP News Editor collates this information to ensure that we can pack as much into those four pages as possible.

However, when I was elected Chairman I was keen that we could find a more timely and effective way of communicating with our members on a regular basis and hence the creation of our eNews. More than 1,400 members are subscribed to receive eNews each month, and typically 70% of you open and read it.

Consequently, eNews has become a very effective vehicle for sharing information with fellow members about upcoming events, branch meetings, reviews, anniversaries and all things SRP and recorder related.

Unlike the magazine, eNews has no restriction on space, and the deadline for each monthly edition can be as short as a few days before the next edition. I would encourage you to send any items you would like to be included to the news editor (news@srp.org.uk).

Now that eNews is well established, we’d like to find ways to expand it and make it more useful for you, and in so doing help to complement the SRP News section in the Recorder Magazine.

I’d very much welcome any suggestions you may have on how we could enhance eNews to make your membership of the SRP more useful. If you’d like to volunteer to help edit and produce eNews I’d be especially pleased to hear from you. We could do so much more with a little help and some creative ideas.

As always, do feel free to contact me directly on any issues that you would like to discuss with me, or comments on the SRP. Member feedback is always welcome and crucial to the on-going management of the Society.

Kind regards,

Vic
