The keys to our collective healing and wellness lie in our ability to listen to each other, lift each other up, fight for each other, remember who we truly are, and live our greatest gifts. We claim the right to our bodies–abled, disabled, trans, cis, old, young, and beautiful–to be accepted, nourished, embraced, and ours only. We want health and wellness for every womxn.-- https://www.seattlewomxnmarchingforward.org/anniv-2019/#why

Update

We’re now officially in another Trump Shutdown.
As expected, the Senate rejected the House bill containing nearly $6B for Trump’s border wall. McConnell didn’t even let them vote on the bill since it had no chance of passing. That means we’re now in a shutdown caused entirely by Trump’s childish demands for his border wall. Remember, the Senate has already passed a clean funding bill that would fund the government until Feb. 8, thereby averting a shutdown. That bill would pass the House, if Trump would allow it to move forward.

What you can do now. It’s unlikely that offices will be open over the next few days, but if they are, here’s what you should tell your Member of Congress: (call scripts below)

If you have a Democratic member of Congress, make sure to thank them for standing up to Trump’s racist, harmful demands. Tell them that you have their back.

If you have a Republican member of Congress, let them know that you understand exactly who’s to blame: Trump and Republicans who continue to enable him. They could open the government at any moment, instead of holding it hostage to Trump’s racist demands.

Most importantly, plan for a day of action on Jan. 3. Indivisible is holding a national day of action on Jan. 3, the first day of the new Congress. It’s important to let your Member of Congress know that you’re watching and will holding them accountable. If the government is still shutdown, demand that they re-open it by passing a *clean* funding bill that doesn’t contain new money for Trump’s border wall, to cage families, or for more border agents.

Raging Warriors for Healthcare

We'd like to thank the team of volunteers who worked to
make sure ALL Peninsula residents get ACA health insurance coverage in 2019

Thanks for caring about your neighbors' healthcare.
ALSO
Due in part to our efforts Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE) will be available at Jefferson Healthcare beginning in the Spring and funded for a year.

NEXT MEETING
Thursday February 1st 4-5:30 PM at Jefferson County Library

For those of you looking for ways to donate money or time on behalf of getting universal healthcare passed, HEALTHCARE-NOW! is a major force, along with the Healthcare Over Profit (HOPE) group.  They are keeping track of and putting pressure on Democrats in the House and Senate that are not on board with Medicare for All yet.

The new version of H.R. 676 will be presented in January.  I believe Pramila Jayapal is the principal in rewriting parts of this law to be more of a sister bill to the Sanders Senate bill.

Although a judge in Texas has declared the ACA unconstitutional, it is being appealed and will not change anything right away.  However, it is encouraging all Dems and liberal independents to look for ways to strengthen healthcare for all American citizens.

Under the proposed rule change, past and current use of Medicaid, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly known as Food Stamps), Section 8 housing assistance, and the Low-Income Subsidy for the Medicare Part D prescription drug benefit can be used as evidence that a green card or visa applicant is inadmissible under the public charge ground.
