Work of Your Hand News - December 2018

Chains shall He break. For the slave is our brother! And in His name all oppression shall cease! (Oh Holy Night)

Merry Christmas! We love what we do!  It’s living life on purpose. In Cambodia it’s working with the marginalized poor to provide dignified work and sharing the hope of eternity when we have Jesus. And then in Canada we get to share about life in Cambodia and provide pathways to connect those who want to share the skills and talents they have so that they too can help the poor and marginalized provide for their own families. Often we find that it’s not that the poor are not able, they just haven’t had the opportunity.

Hark now hear the angels sing, a king was born today! And man will live for evermore because of Christmas Day!

It’s to share the most important gift of all.  The good news about Jesus, that he has the gift of eternal life for us all. He is the answer! 



Thank you so much for those who came to hear us. We were able to visit quite a few churches and to share at our fundraiser Dignify.  We were so blessed by those who came out. Since Nov 1st, matching donation support for the $20,000 was matched and exceeded.  We were able to raise $30,000 and so have raised more than $50,000 not including pledges.  We are excited, because we know this is not our doing.  We are ordinary, simple people.  It’s all God. 

We are so blessed because of the amazing board and staff, God has provided. There is so much talent, humility and compassion and we are grateful as Work of Your Hand moves forward into the New Year. After four years, Susan Hawley has left our board, (although she will never leave our hearts) and we are grateful that Ian Trigg has joined us.  He has been our senior pastor at Foothills Alliance Church for the past 17 years and had already been giving us wise counsel and discernment, so it was wonderful that he could formally join our board.

And we are especially thankful to be able to spend time with our friends and family while we are back in Canada. We LOVE spending time with you and catching up!! And we are so grateful for your prayers for us, refreshing and rejuvenating us as we prepare to head back to Cambodia. We cannot do this without you and we are grateful that God has surrounded us with such amazing people. THANK YOU!

We are grateful that the Greeting card ministry has continued while we have been in Canada.  We love that village and are excited about the possibilities of continuing to share there. Our hope is to purchase land and to expand our vocational ministries that will bring education and dignified employment, while sharing the Good News. Please pray for Youn and her three-year old son.  She is on the far left side, with her son beside her. He has an enlarged heart and has been scheduled for a heart operation on Dec 25th. Please pray that the operation was successful and there would be complete recovery. I know that operations like that are hard enough in a wealthy country with very qualified surgeons.  I can’t imagine thinking about it in a country like Cambodia.



Darren and I are so incredibly blessed! But we also know what it is like to be hurting and our call is for those who are suffering. We know that poverty is a trap and keeps many people in chains. And God is having us be a small part of His plan to break those chains to find true freedom. It’s an incredible journey! Want to join us?  Consider supporting us, or come to Cambodia and see!
