Happy New Year.

The New Year is a symbol for new beginnings. A tradition that originated more than 4,000 years ago, it is a time when people, companies and organizations make resolutions to better themselves and / or help others.

At Active Surveillance Patients International (ASPI), our goals for 2019 are to better stay in touch with you and our Industry Partners. To provide greater resources for men diagnosed with prostate cancer (PCa) and their families. And to build a larger, international coalition of support.

To make these things happen, we’ve been working behind the scenes on a lot of exciting advancements! First, is the introduction of this monthly newsletter, which will include links to resources, conference announcements, helpful articles, and more. We can’t wait to share it with you, but we also don’t want to spam anyone. If you don't want to receive this newsletter, simply click on the unsubscribe link below or at the bottom of this email.

A sea change is coming for men diagnosed with PCa and on active surveillance (AS). We thank you for joining the movement and hope you enjoy learning more about what we have in store!

Best wishes to you and yours in 2019,

ASPI Conference Update.

The ASPI conference will take place in St. Louis, Missouri, U.S.A., on June 5, 6 and 7, 2020. This date and location change gives us more time to prepare, and because St. Louis is our organization’s U.S.A. headquarters, it is a central location for those traveling to the conference from within the country.

We already have a great group of speakers lined up for the conference who will speak on a variety of topics, including information about improved upfront testing (fewer biopsies!) and doctor/patient interaction on your health journey.

Many more details will be forthcoming. Stay tuned!

Mission Statement

Active Surveillance Patients International (ASPI) will support and empower men newly diagnosed with prostate cancer (PCa), or on Active Surveillance (AS), and their partner to be proactive on their PCa journey.

Tell Us Your Story.

We believe survivors talking to other survivors is one of the best “medicines” for one’s own health. ASPI is a network of survivors working together to help each other on our PCa journey and to find the best way to put cancer to rest where it belongs.

Share your story with others! Our new website is launching soon and it will include a section where men and family members can share their experiences.

First: tell us about your PCa and AS journey in 300 words or less.

Second: answer the following questions, separate from your personal anecdote.
  • How long have you been on AS?
  • What is your greatest personal or medical accomplishment achieved during your AS journey?
  • Is there a misconception that you had originally believed about PCa or AS that you have since debunked?
  • Can you describe one lifestyle change that has helped you effectively follow AS?
  • How did your family or friends respond to your news about the PCa diagnosis and your decision to follow AS?
  • Do you have a motto or quote that gives you inspiration?
Third: send your piece, a high-resolution photo of yourself, and contact information to ASPIpatientstories@gmail.com.*

*By sending your photo and article, you grant ASPI the right to publish the content (in its entirety, edited or any portion thereof) on its website, social media, newsletter, conference materials, and/or other outlets not explicitly stated. Personal contact information will not be shared or sold, and only used by ASPI to contact the sender with follow-up questions, if needed.
