Happy New year!
2019 has already started and it is in full swing, but we still want to give you all the juicy details of what IAPS was up to in the last three months!

PART I - ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Executive Committee met in Mulhouse

As written in the regulations of IAPS, the EC met in the IAPS headquarters in Mulhouse, France, which we share with the European Physical Society. The two days meeting, from the 30th of November to the 1st of December, had an agenda packed with discussions on current and new projects,
upcoming activities and the future of IAPS. As always, an extremely important part was the meeting with David Lee (Secretary General of EPS). We would like to thank EPS for hosting us once again! Now, you can check the results of the meeting at the IAPS Cloud! ;)

IAPS School Day 2018 was a success

The IAPS School Day is our way of celebrating the World Science Day for Peace and Development! Last November, physics students in 7 countries in 4 different continents, visited schools or hosted school children in their universities and showed how cool Particle Physics and physics is! It was the biggest edition so far, but are you ready for Elements and Materials in 2019?

jIAPS 2019 Editorial Team has started their work!

The jIAPS 2018/2019 Editor-in-Chief has been elected by the IAPS Executive Committee: Hannah Dalgleish is the new jIAPS manager!

This year, as a result of the high number of applications for the position, Hannah is coordinating a team composed of the other 6 applicants! The Editorial Team has already started their work and it's looking very promising!

The Physics Students International Community celebrates IYPT 2019

2019 marks the 150th anniversary of the Periodic Table , and as such it has been proclaimed The International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements (IYPT) by the United Nations General Assembly, and UNESCO.

IAPS is honoured to be one of the Supporting Organisations of this world-wide event celebrating this monumental achievement in science. We started the celebrations by sending a delegation of 12 volunteers to the Opening Ceremony event at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, on January 29th!

jIAPS team is surveying readers

The jIAPS Editorial Team is looking for feedback on the official journal of IAPS!

If you are interested in providing your opinion, including thoughts on previous jIAPS editions or ideas you think might improve the publication henceforth, fill up the survey until February 10th!

PLANCKS and registrations

PLANCKS 2019 is open for preliminaries registration, with more than 10 countries already having scheduled them! The first round of individual team registration (countries without preliminaries) closed on February 3rd.
This fun competition, organised since 2014, is a great way to test the knowledge of Physics in a broad range of topics!

LoT Returns

Lights of Tuscany is back!

After a two year interval, the Associazione Italiana Studenti di Fisica (AISF), the IAPS NC Italy, is organising the third edition of Lights of Tuscany, taking place between Pisa and Florence from the 11th to the 15th of April!
If you want to enjoy lots of Physics, Culture and a good time with your fellow students, find out about the programme in the LoT website and register in the first round here until February 10th 24:00 CET!

ICPS Registrations are upon us

Finally, registrations for ICPS 2019 opened on February 1st!

This year, hundreds of IAPS members from around the world will meet in Cologne, Germany to participate in a scientific, cultural and social programme filled with awesome activities! The ICPS 2019 Organising Committee has done an amazing job of preparing this year's ICPS!

We are certain this will be another IAPS flagship event to remember!

iaps2CERN open for signing up

New year, more CERN! On February 1st, the iaps2CERN registration period also started, with beginning of admissions scheduled for February 14th!
Don’t miss the opportunity to visit one of the greatest centers for Nuclear and Particle Physics research!

ICPYS Low Temperature Physics in 2019

The International Conference for Professionals and Young Scientists "Low Temperature Physics" - ICPYS LTP 2019 is in Kharkiv, Ukraine organised by IAPS LC Kharkiv, the Council of Young Scientists.
From the 3rd to the 7th of June, a vast programme covering many topics in experimental and theoretical Physics at low and ultralow temperatures will be available for participants, with this edition dedicated to the 100th birthday of Boris. I Verkin.

IAPS gains new members

LC Kumasi and NC Morocco joined the IAPS community as provisional members!

LC Kumasi, in Ghana, confirmed on November 7th, is a group of Physics students from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

NC Morocco, confirmed on February 8th, is the Moroccan Association of Physics (MAP).

With these new members, IAPS grows more international, taking its aims further!
We welcome our new members, certain of the value and dynamic they will bring to our great organisation!
