Suffolk Project in Aquaculture Training

Algae Culture

It is time to start up the SPAT lectures for 2019. The first workshop of the series will cover all things alga including microalgae that we culture to feed our shellfish, macroalgae which are becoming popular in the human diet, harmful algal blooms, and how to grow the stuff.
Come on by and find out what is up in the world of algae;
the good, the bad, and the ugly.

All are welcome to attend!

This month's Algae Culture Workshop is Wednesday, 1/16 from 5-7pm, and again on Friday, 1/18 from 1-3pm.

Enjoy a Marine Minute Monday, Edible Oyster
We're sure you've heard about the capability of oysters to filter our waters, but have you ever seen them in action? This time lapse video was shot in our hatchery, it's a great visual of what one oyster can do in 10 minutes! Just think, CCE Marine Program produces and puts millions of oysters in our waters each year through our shellfish enhancement projects and initiatives.
Cornell Cooperative Extension Marine Program's 'Back to the Bays' Initiative offers year-round programs and events for you to give back, and get back to the bays!
