2018 was our best year yet! Highlights include the amazing work we did on our submissions to the Banking Royal Commission & attending conferences in Sydney and the Gold Coast. It was an honour to see Gemma move the admission of our paralegals Georgia and David.  We are so lucky to have such an amazing team, supported by a very engaged board.  We look forward to a stellar 2019!

As we wrapped up last year, our final visit to the office was from Dr Graham Hill, the Director of Legal Aid WA, together with State Program Manager Allison Harris.  We were delighted to talk to them about the highlights of our year.  Their visit was very empowering and they thanked us for the work we do. Dr Hill said WA is a fairer place as a result of our work, and that we make the impossible possible as our hard work assists those who would have no other place to go.

This month we will be focusing on EDUCATION.  We strongly believe that Financial Literacy is the key to making good financial decisions.   The Government's Financial Capability Strategy identifies three behavioral areas in which Australians can be empowered to take control of their financial lives: managing money day-to-day, making informed money decisions, & planning for the future.  We seek to impact this strategy by helping people make informed money decisions.

Our Mission is to support the community by educating people about and advocating for their consumer and financial rights. With the popularity of the Barefoot Investor and the findings of the Royal Commission so far this topic has never been so important and relevant! Our social media platforms this month will be full of articles from organisations like ASIC’s Money Smart, to help people with their financial decisions.  Please engage with us on our socials and tell us your opinion on this important issue.

Did you know?

That we provide Community Legal Education Sessions to the community? As part of our session, we will go out to a group and empower them to make good decisions around credit and debt.  We will also talk about consumer rights and things like buying a car. If you're interested in one of these sessions you can email us for more information.  Sessions can be done in Perth in person or via webcam outside of Perth Metro, within WA.

We will be focusing on providing education about credit and debt.  We do not give financial advice, we refer about 80% of our clients to Financial
Counsellors who provide that much-needed service to people.
