Pour. Smile. Repeat: Acrylic Paint Pouring—“Puddle Pour” (Adults)
Acrylic paint pouring is an exciting method for making unique, abstract art. In this class, we’ll start by learning about pouring mediums and how to mix paints to get consistent results. There will be a couple demonstrations, then you’ll get to create a unique painting of your own on a 9x12” canvas. In this session, we’ll learn the puddle pour and straight pour techniques. All supplies are included! Wear old clothes, it’s a messy medium. Paintings take 36 hours to dry, so you’ll need to come back to the Arts Center to pick up your painting later in the week.

Small Paintings-Big Impact: Still Life (Adults)
Have you always wanted to learn to paint but feel short on time, space, or money to put into it? In this course, we’ll learn how making small paintings can resolve all three of these issues while providing opportunities to make beautiful, complete works of art to colorize your kitchen! We’ll cover acrylic painting fundamentals as well as strategies for working art into your busy life. Students can expect to complete one unique still life painting in each of the four class periods.

Lights! Camera! Action! What's your digital story? (Adults)
Join us to learn the craft of digital storytelling! This workshop will empower participants as digital storytellers to write, craft, and edit a digital story based on a personal experience. Participants will learn how to craft key story ingredients into a memorable video to be posted online. First, we'll explore storytelling concepts, then write a short personal story, craft a video script, and then create a digital story through video editing. Media Artist conducts video editing in collaboration with digital storytellers. Class does not meet for a fifth session, but the instructor will work with students on final editing during that week.

Paint Night: Farmscape (Adults)
Enjoy an evening out while you make a beautiful painting of a Minnesota farmscape! In this one-night class, artist Dan McAvey will walk you through the steps to complete a 16x20" painting of a local farm using acrylic paints. No painting or drawing experience is required to have a fun night out and create a work of art you can bring home! Supplies are included in the course fee.

Alcohol Ink Painting (Adults)
Experiment with alcohol inks on Yupo paper. The non-absorbent nature of Yupo means it will not buckle, no matter how much water you put on it and it makes colors more vibrant and brilliant than on standard papers as all the color sits on the surface. Alcohol inks are pigment-intense and vibrant, free-flowing and filled with an energy all their own. You will leave the workshop with knowledge of a new technique that you can take home and expand your artistic interest.

In this session, we’ll learn the swipe technique to make incredible cells in your paintings. All supplies are included! Wear old clothes, it’s a messy medium. Paintings take 36 hours to dry, so you’ll need to come back to the Arts Center to pick up your painting later in the week.

In this course, we’ll learn how making small paintings can resolve all three of these issues while providing opportunities to make beautiful, complete works of art to liven up your living room. We’ll cover acrylic painting fundamentals as well as strategies for working art into your life. Our subject matter will be flowers and students can expect to complete one unique floral painting in each of the five class periods.

Acrylic paint pouring is an exciting method for making unique, abstract art. In this class, we’ll start by learning about pouring mediums and how to mix paints to get consistent results. There will be a couple demonstrations, then you’ll get to create a unique painting of your own on a 9x12” canvas. In this session, we’ll use rubber mallets to pound the paint on the canvas to create beautiful blooms and lacing. All supplies are included! Wear old clothes, it’s a messy medium. Paintings take 36 hours to dry, so you’ll need to come back to the Arts Center to pick up your painting later in the week.

Silk Scarf Painting (16+)
Learn the French Serti technique of silk painting while creating a beautiful scarf. Share an unforgettable afternoon of art with friends, family and new acquaintances. No art experience necessary. Create your own design as simple or complex as you would like. It's easy, it's clean, it's fun, and you get startlingly beautiful results.
