Updates From DG Joe

Just a little over a month until the 39W Midwinter Convention. Current registration price is $60 for Saturday (includes 2 meals), $25 for Friday, and $75 for both dates. Price will increase February 1st to $65 for Saturday, $25 for Friday, and $80 for both days. Registering early helps with convention planning and saves you money. So far, Parma Lions Club has 11 members coming-can your club bring more? Boise Bench has 8 registered, Caldwell has 5, Star, Nampa, and Twin Falls have 4 each. Encourage your club members to sign up!

A new event has been added-Open Mic. Each participant will have up to 4 minutes (strictly enforced!) to perform, sing, dance, or speak on any subject. Keep it G-rated and send your request for time to ljidaho@live.com.

The convention will also be the kick-off for the membership campaign.

Elections:

DG 2019-20 - Lion Jim Spanberger, Meridian Lions Club
1st VDG 2019-20 - Lion Lynn Johnson, Caldwell Lions Club
2nd VDG 2019-20 - Lion Kathy Donahue, Star Lions Club

Look for more convention updates on our website.

Multiple District Convention

The Multiple District 39 Convention will be held May 24-26, 2019, in Sun Valley. It was previously announced we were moving the convention to Twin Falls; however, Sun Valley has given us a deal we couldn't refuse. We will have registration forms, with cost, by the end of the month. This will be an action-packed, fun-filled weekend. This will not be your traditional convention. We are shaking it up and making changes for all to enjoy! Let's fill the Sun Valley Inn with Lions like they did 30 years ago!

39E Midwinter Convention

The District 39E Midwinter Convention will be held at the Clarion Inn in Pocatello, Idaho, on January 25-26, 2019, and hosted by the American Falls Lions Club.  Guest speaker is International Director Gary Brown. Register by Jan. 15.

Tech World

One of the biggest complaints about the LCI website has always been that it's hard to find what your looking for. One reason is that there is so much information available-but isn't that a good thing? Here are a couple of tips about finding information in the resource center.

First find the Resource Center by clicking on the word "Resources" at the top of the page. On this page you'll see a list on the left hand side of categories of different information topics. Since we all need members, let's see what's available in" Membership Development" by clicking on that link. You'll now see 7 pages of resources. You can either scroll through those to see what's there, or you can narrow down the topic using the search bar.

After you've found what you're looking for and want to search for something else, be sure to CLEAR the first category on the left side before you start a new search.

You can also just use the search bar for any document you already know the name of. It's just like Google-you may have to enter the information differently if you don't find what you want the first time.

Don't be frustrated; you can always contact your Lions IT for assistance.

Check this feature out and let us know how it worked for you. Join our Facebook Group to share and discuss.  -kd

Did you know your club can add a position called "Club Admin"? This person will have access to MyLCI for the club to assist the secretary or president with reporting membership and activities. To add a club admin, just go to your list of officers and you'll find a spot for Club Admin just under the Club Secretary.

Notes from the editor

If you are a club secretary or president, it's your responsibility to share the newsletter with your club-the mailing list does not, unfortunately, include everyone.
If you are not on the mailing list and want to be added, use the subscribe link or contact me directly. Snail mail available on request.
If you have club events, news, photos, speakers, projects to share, please send to me or to your zone chair for publication. Have a flyer? Send that, too. I can't make up enough stuff to fill the newsletter, although I try.
Publication is the 10th; deadline to submit news is flexible, but end of the month is preferred.
Comments, suggestions, complaints-always welcome!
