The Baptism of Christ

Wise men from the East

The Feast of the Epiphany saw the visit of the wise men to see the infant Jesus but this year three adults from the congregation played the part of the Magi. Michael Ashcroft, Giles Dee-Shapland and Jeremy Shaw presented the traditional gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh at the crib. After the service, the congregation enjoyed the French speciality Galettes des Riis over coffee made by Stephanie Veilas.

In the evening, Holy Trinity Choir led our first Epiphany Carol Service. The choir sang music old and new including a new composition by our Organist Edward Dean.

Churchwarden off to pastures new

Caroline Watts, one of our two Churchwardens, is stepping down this month to move with her husband Nick to a new home in Hampton.

Fr. Nicholas says: “Both Caroline and Nick have contributed significantly to the life of our Parish over many years and will be hugely missed by all of us at Holy Trinity and St Saviour. Caroline took on the role of Churchwarden in April 2016 and is an even longer standing member of the congregation. We wish Caroline and Nick every blessing with their move.”

There will be a presentation to Caroline and Nick at the Sung Eucharist on Sunday 20 January.

Next year in Jerusalem!

There’s just over 18 months to go until our Parish Pilgrimage to the Holy Land and this week Fr. Nicholas and Fr. Grant flew to Jerusalem to get preparations under way.

You can follow their eight-day trip on our social media and see the sights they are enjoying day by day.

Servers are served up a Sunday Lunch

The serving team were treated to a lunch at the Rectory on Epiphany Sunday to thank them for their devotion to duty throughout the Christmas season.

The clergy cooked roast chicken which was served with vegetables and followed by apple strudel.
Sunday Lunch at the Saatchi Gallery

Join us for Sunday Lunch on Sunday 3 February at 1pm at the Saatchi Gallery. It's £25 per person for a two-course meal (vegetarian options available). There's room for 30 people, so book and pay for your place early through our Parish Administrator - parishoffice@sloanechurch.org

The speaker at the lunch will be Victoria Gillies, Executive Director of the charity Fine Cell Work which makes beautiful handmade products in British prisons.

Afterwards, you can always drop in to the gallery to see its latest exhibition.
