1.  One of our charities, The Upper Room, still requires winter clothing: new men’s socks and underwear; men’s gloves, hats, scarves and coats in good clean condition. Please put clothing in the box at the back of the church. You can also donate to the Ealing Food Bank - the January shopping list is by the donation box at the back of the church.
            And St Michael’s is getting rid of some children’s chairs that don’t fit in the cupboard! You can see them here. If you would like them, please contact the Parish Office on 020 8994 1380. 
 
2. Today Friday January 11th and tomorrow Saturday at 7.30pm at the Tabard Theatre, it’s the UK premiere of risque comedy farce ‘Tied to the Vicarage’. Tickets £19.50. Runs from Tuesday to Saturday till January 19th. Details and booking 

3. On Sunday January 13th at 10am in St Michael & All Angels Church, at 10am it’s a Parish Mass. Preacher: Fr Kevin Morris, vicar. All welcome. Creche, Children’s Churchand, at 9.30am, Youth Church. Evensong at 6.30pm. Preacher: Fr Fabrizio Pesce.

4. At St Michael & All Angels there are ‘Yogaplusexercise’ classes for parents and childrenand Slow Yoga for adults – at times to be arranged to suit you. Dr P Singh is taking inquiries about personal and classroom tuition. More details via

5. On Monday January 14th from 3pm to 5pm in Avanti café, Bedford Corner, South Parade, W4 1LD, it’s 2019's first weekly meeting of the Café Conversation group, organised by Louise Kaye.
            On Wednesday 16th from 2.45-4.45, the first Grove Park Café Conversation of 2019 is at Cafe Grove, 7 Grove Park Road. Louise was interviewed on BBC London about the scheme.

6. On Wednesday January 16
th at 3.30pm in St Michael & All Angels Church, there is the funeral of Michael Broom.
 
7. On Thursday January 17th at 6.45pm in St Michael & All Angels Church, the Hogarth Singers present Come and Sing. Join them as they sing excerpts of Haydn's glorious choral masterpiece: The Creation. Entry fee £10, to include music hire and light refreshments - fee refunded if you continue singing for the Spring Term. Doors open from 6.45pm, singing from 7.30pm.

8. Also on Thursday 17th at 7.30pm in the Boston Room of George IV, 185 Chiswick High Rd, W4 2DR, it's The Chiswick Calendar’s fourth annual birthday bash. The most informal AGM you could find! Music from the Greg Davis trio. Doors open 7pm.

9. Also on Thursday 17th from 8pm to 9pm in St Michael & All Angels Parish Hall, there’s the second session of an Introduction to Mindfulness and Christian Meditation. Four sessions led by Fr Fabrizio Pesce. All welcome. Cost: £15. Join the course at any time - book a place via parishoffice@smaaa.org.ukor 0208 994 1380.
 
10. On Friday January 18th at 10.30am in St Michael & Angels Church, it’s the first Bach to Baby family concert of the year: Flute Fantasia featuring Mary Thorneloe, flute, & Alan Gout, piano. All welcome.

11. On Saturday January 19th at 7.30pm in St Michael & All Angels Church, the London City Orchestra previews its 5th Anniversary concert (to be held at the Queen Elizabeth Hall later in the week). 
Including Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1, Strauss’s Der Rosenkavalier Suite. Admission free, collection in aid of The Amber Trust.
 
12. On Wednesday January 23
rd from 7.30pm at the George IV pub in Chiswick High Road, RNLI Chiswick presents a talk on Osterley Houseby Peter Bush. Tickets £10 via Eventbrite. All proceeds to the RNLI. Drinks and pub food/snacks available before and after the talk.
            RNLI is also looking for volunteer collectors at Tesco stores in Hammersmith (this weekend) and Acton (next weekend). More details from

13. On Friday January 25th from 7.30pm, upstairs in St Michael & All Angels Parish Hall, it’s the Bedford Park Society Winter Party for its members. Find out how to join the Society 
on its website. Tickets £20 online (plus 70p admin fee) or from Postmark in Turnham Green Terrace. Price includes drinks, canapés and entertainment by ArtsEd students, who will preview their new production.
 
14. On Saturday January 26th at 7.30pm in St Michael & All Angels Parish Hall, there's a new event, a Charity Race Night with wine and cheese. Come and enjoy a fun evening of racing in aid of the St Michael and All Angels charities: 
The Amber TrustThe Upper Room and WaterHarvest. Tickets £10. See the race card and how to take part and book here, or buy tickets in church after the Sunday morning service.
 
15. On Sunday January 27
th at 12 noon in the Michael Room, there’s a Burns Parish Lunch – haggis, neeps and tatties. All welcome. If you can help set up and/or provide a cold pudding, please email Ian Flatman: ian.flatman@googlemail.com
 
16. On Tuesday January 29
th at 7.30pm at Chiswick Pier House, Corney Reach Way, there’s a talk by mudlarkerJason Sandy on Treasure in the Thames. £3 for non-members at door, FREE for members. See more on their website

17. On Thursday January 31st from 8pm to 9.15, at St Saviour Wendell Park Church in Cobbold Road, it’s The Upper Room’s first Winter Lecture 2019.  Eminent local musician, broadcaster and Arts Society lecturer Sandy Burnett will speak about “The Age of Jazz”.  Refreshments from 7.30pm.  Entrance free but donations welcome. The Arts Society Chiswick's next lecture is Lawrence of Arabia: excavating a legend by Dr Neil Faulkner of Bristol University. Bar open from 7pm. Guests welcome for a fee of £10. Details 

- Sunday February 24th at 10am – Confirmation service conducted by Bishop Michael Marshall.
 
- Sunday March 10th to Saturday March 16
th A Week of Accompanied Prayer at the start of Lent. Sessions available between 8am and 8pm, to help people engage more deeply with their prayer life, assist those finding it difficult to pray and explore different ways of praying and listening to God. Application forms at the back of the Church: please complete and return to the Parish Office soon, to aid planning.

- Thursdays from March 14th to May 9th, 9.30am-2.30pm. Home-Start free course in Hounslow.  If you have some free time and are a parent or grandparent, you could help other families with pre-school children. Local charity Home-Start is offering a free course to train you to be a home-visiting volunteer, supporting families with difficulties such as post-natal illness, bereavement or disability.  After the course, you would visit a family for 2-3 hours a week. - Friday June 7th to Sunday 23rd – Bedford Park Festival (Green Days June 8th and 9th): unwanted Christmas gifts, CDs and DVDs - please place in the box at the back of church ready for Green Days. Website 

- Thursday September 12th to Monday 18th – Chiswick Book Festival and Cookbook Festival. See their websites.
 
- September 2020 - Pilgrimage to The Passion Play in Oberammergau led by Fr Kevin Morris. For further information, speak to the Parish Office.
