Happy New Year!
RESCHEDULED: Due to a scheduling conflict, the Grandoozy Community Meeting has been rescheduled for Thurs. Feb. 28, 5:30-7 pm at The Studios at Overland Crossing (2205 S. Delaware St.) The Jan. 23 meeting is cancelled.
Grandoozy a three-day music festival took place at Overland Golf Course in September 2018. As part of the commitment to the community, a portion of the ticket sales will be allocated to improvements to the neighborhood. Neighbors have the opportunity to provide input on what projects should be prioritized. Can’t attend the meeting? Share your thoughts.
Placemaking on S. Federal Blvd.
We want your input on placemaking ideas for S. Federal Blvd.! WalkDenver and the West Denver Renaissance Collaborative are working together to make walking and accessing transit more enjoyable in the Little Saigon District on Federal between Alameda and Mississippi, and to celebrate the cultural destinations along the corridor. If you live, work, shop or travel along S. Federal, share your input on the “placemaking” features you’d like to see!
Denveright - Final Feedback
Via the city’s two-year Denveright outreach and planning effort, input from thousands of Denverites has resulted in four plans for a more inclusive, connected and healthy city.
Nearly 2,700 residents offered feedback about the ideas in the first drafts. Denveright reviewed your feedback and have updated the plans accordingly. Community members can continue to share their thoughts through February 27. Read the new drafts and tell us what you think!
Baker NTMP Next Steps
The Baker neighborhood was selected as the second neighborhood in the city to go through the Neighborhood Transportation Management Program (NTMP) Action Plan collaboration process. Neighbors helped identify short and long term transportation and mobility projects at the initial open house on Dec. 6, 2018.
Alameda Underpass - Feedback Requested
The Alameda Underpass is one of the key spots where cars, bikes, and pedestrians can travel from the east to the west side of the city. Public Works wants to hear from neighbors. Would you like to see a pedestrian/bike path on both sides? A buffer between cars? What would you like to see improved on? Learn more and review the options presented at Connect Alameda.

Gone for Good (Thrift Store at 101 Kalamath St.)
Do you have junk or furniture sitting inside of your home, garage, or shed that you don’t need anymore? Gone For Good,a non-profit located in Lucky District 7, offers a junk drop-off site to take your unwanted goods to be put to better and new uses. Rather than simply discarding your “junk,” Gone for Good will find a way to put it to good use. In some cases, that might mean selling it in our thrift store and/or donating the items to charity. If neither of those are options, the non-profit will find a way to recycle. For a small fee, Gone for Good will even pick up your goods and will carry them out. Get started by calling (720) 594-2292. Learn more at www.goneforgoodstore.com.

Paper Cups Now Recyclable
Roughly 600,000 tons of paper beverage cups are used each year in the United States, and far too much of this valuable material ends up in landfills. Denver residents can now recycle coffee and soda paper cups in their purple carts! Before placing a paper cup in a purple cart, it must be clean and empty. All sleeves, lids, straws and stirrers will also need to be removed. Recycling only the paper cup is very important to the process.
Denver Recycles would like to remind residents that even though paper cups can now be recycled, reusable cups are still the best environmental choice! To learn more and to see a list of all items accepted for recycling, please visit denvergov.org/DenverRecycles.
New Spanish & Upgraded Lucky District 7 Website
Language shouldn’t be a barrier to getting to your local government. To better connect with the diverse district, a Lucky District 7 Spanish website has launched and is now available to view here. Remember, that the Lucky District 7 has bilingual staff members and can assist in Spanish.
Additionally, a page on ongoing projects will be regularly updated to keep residents informed. Events will be easy to find so that residents can receive the critical information. As always, please reach out with you questions, comments and ideas or if you’d just like to meet with Jolon one-on-one.

Givers Summit
Community connections are vital to creating a better future for every Denver resident. Denver is full of people who care about people and are passionate about giving. If you’re a giver, Denver Human Services want to hear from you. What’s been successful and fulfilling? What’s been a challenge? We invite you to join Denver’s Road Home on February 5, for the Givers Summit, an event intended to help community-based organizations, individuals, neighborhoods, city agencies and other stakeholders improve coordination and collaboration to better serve our community. Register at http://bit.ly/GiversSummit.
Winter Sidewalk Safety
To help keep Denver’s sidewalks safe and accessible, property owners are responsible for keeping all sidewalks adjacent to their property clear of snow and ice. Un-shoveled sidewalks can be hazardous for seniors, people with disabilities, parents with strollers and mail carriers. After snow has stopped falling, city inspectors begin enforcement — checking business areas the same day and residential areas the following day. Please do your part to ensure safe access for everyone! Learn more at denvergov.org/snow.
What's Your Vision for a Safer Denver?
Denver’s Vision Zero initiative is working to eliminate traffic deaths and serious injuries on city streets by creating a culture of safety – one that promotes, prioritizes, and values human life. The Public Works team is partnering with students at CU Denver to create four videos that promote safe travel behavior and that reflect the voices and ideas of community members. Do you have a personal experience or story to share that would inspire others to act in ways that promote safety on our streets? If so, we want to hear from you!
Get started by reviewing the timeline for participation in this Community Voices project and complete the application by January 20. Apply now at denvergov.org/visionzero.
