Regional Innovation Coordinator, Coby Sullivan, recently embarked on the Startup Catalyst Community Leaders Mission of 2019. It was a fast-paced adventure through Colorado and California which exposed 15 lucky participants to some of the leading, high-growth, startup environments in the USA. Coby learned a lot about what makes for an effective, sustainable innovation ecosystem and is keen to share her insights with the Sunshine Coast community.

STARTUP WORLD CUP AUSTRALIAN FINALS

The Startup World Cup Finals are coming to Australia next month and luckily for us, the event is being held nearby, in Brisbane! Startup Submissions close tomorrow so get in quickly for your chance to win a seat at the San Francisco Grand Finale and a possible shot at $1 million in investment. STARTUP WEEKEND SUNSHINE COAST

April 26th - 28th - Wotso Sunshine Coast

The countdown is on until the Sunshine Coast hosts its sixth Startup Weekend. Throughout the event, teams will have access to mentors and founders to help them during the planning, development, market and implementation phase. 

Predicted to attract a crowd of 
like-minded locals who are in business or hoping to open their own business including; intrapreneurs from the corporate landscape, tech-savvy locals with mean coding skills, marketers, sales guns and everyone in between.

ADOPT A CHIEF!

Adopt-a-Chief is a new initiative from the Office of the Queensland Chief Entrepreneur that will allow Queensland based startups to leverage Leanne’s extensive domestic and global business experience, gained as CEO and founder of the startup Everledger, to help them with their current challenges and future plans. She will spend one full day with the startup on the 16th May 2019.

Dreams for a Better World Grant

The judges welcome small and medium sized businesses from all industries to apply. For instance, your business may sell products overseas but as long as the grant will be used to help your business give back to your local community, like employ people with disabilities or build infrastructure that will benefit the community, the judges want to hear about it.

Queensland Waste to Biofutures Fund (W2B Fund)

The W2B Fund provides $5 million in 2019 to support the development of waste to biofutures projects in Queensland. The fund provides targeted grants for pilot and demonstration or commercially scalable projects in Queensland that use conventional waste streams or biomass to produce bioenergy, biofuels and high-value bioproducts.
Amount Available: $50,000 to $1mil per grant

Startup Catalyst Makers Mission Grant

You can apply for a scholarship for a funded place on a Startup Catalyst mission. Next grant is for Makers Mission - 17 to 24 May to San Francisco for makers, educators, artists and engineers to the USA for a curated, exclusive access, immersive experience for all things rapid prototyping and advanced manufacturing. Learn the latest trends and technologies from the hobbyist to research lab alike; Experience Maker Faire Bay Area, the flagship maker event attracting over 1,200 Makers and 125,000 attendees over a weekend; Listen to hardware startup and investors about their process of going from prototype to production and more

Startup Catalyst Female Founders Mission Grant

You can apply for a scholarship for a funded place on a Startup Catalyst mission. The grant for Female Founders Mission - 9 to 15 June to London, is open to women, whether they be founders, investors, corporate innovation leaders, and Government policy makers from across Australia who are looking to connect with and learn from other female leaders from the Australian and London startup communities, and who want to understand the UK market and build long-range international networks. This mission is for you if you are selling to the corporate sector, or looking to raise funding and connect with investors, or looking to understand startup ecosystems
Amount Available: $6,000 (does not include international flights)

Startup Catalyst London Tech Week

You can apply for a scholarship for a funded place on a Startup Catalyst mission.  This grant is for London Tech Week - 9 to 15 June. If you are a startup, investor, policy or change makers then you simply must take a look at the european market, and there is no better time to expore it than during their summer and London Tech week

Dreams for a Better World Grant - Community/NFP Round 1: Better Living

The judges look for eligible dreams that will make a difference to the lives of other Australians and have a positive impact on the community. Tell us about your grassroots community group or not-for-profit organisation and how you would spend a grant of up to $50,000 to make your dream a reality.

Business Research and Innovation Initiative (BRII)

The Business Research and Innovation Initiative (BRII) Pilot Round 2 program provides small to medium sized enterprises with grant funding to develop innovative solutions for government policy and service delivery challenges.
