On January 17 Grimper magazine published Charles Albert's first ascent of No Kpote Only 9a in Rocher Brûlé. No Kpote Only is a left sit start of Gaïa 7c+, the central problem on the controversial boulder Roche Acléaude, and the first 'straight up' 9a in Fontainebleau. In a second article Grimper explains the exact line of this extreme problem. On the problem page of Gaïa we explain why this boulder is controversial. Charles repeated several 8c's and opened two 8c's and two 8c+ problems in the forest. James Webb is the only one who repeated one of these, Bélial 8c in Cuvier. Charles opened No Kpote Only without shoes and without crashpads. In 2012, Jean-Pierre Bouvier climbed the only other 9a in Fontainebleau, the traverse Fou Rire (aller-retour).

Selected with care. Nice cinematography, great problems and proper ethics. Or just newsworthy. We like.
L’Été Indien: if you can't climb, try dancing in the forest (no climbing).
