Sunday Thought – Sunday 13th January 2019

Woe to you who desire the day of the LORD! For what good is the day of the LORD to you? It will be darkness, and not light. It will be as though a man fled from a lion, and a bear met him! Or as though he went into the house, Leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him! Is not the day of the LORD darkness, and not light? Is it not very dark, with no brightness in it?” Amos 5:18-20

For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be”           Matthew 24:21

But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. For when they say, "Peace and safety!" then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape.

But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness” 1 Thessalonians 5:1-5

I make no apologises for the lengthy scripture quotations above. In fact, if you were to read them very carefully, there probably wouldn't be any need for me to write a single word, because the Bible is absolutely plain when it speaks of THE DAY OF THE LORD. I would like to make some observations though, that I believe God has put in my heart.

First, let's see the distinction between THE DAY OF THE LORD and THE DAY OF CHRIST. These two phrases do speak of different things, even though they start at the same time. THE DAY OF JESUS CHRIST refers to a very HAPPY, JOYFUL time when Jesus comes in the clouds to snatch away His true Church. THE DAY OF JESUS CHRIST then extends from that time, on the earth, and includes the joyful arrival in heaven of the BORN AGAIN CHURCH.

Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the DAY OF CHRIST, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain” Phil. 2:16

Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the DAY OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST” 1 Cor.1:8

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the DAY OF JESUS CHRIST” Phil. 1:6

These verses, and a few more in God's word, speak of a future time, not to be feared, but to be looked forward to.

BUT, starting at the same time, will be THE DAY OF THE LORD, which will extend right through the TRIBULATION until the second coming of Christ with His VICTORIOUS CHURCH.

This period of time is not a joyful period for this world, because it is the TIME OF GOD'S WRATH AND JUDGMENT. It is a time of IMMENSE SPIRITUAL DARKNESS.

Woe to you who desire the day of the LORD” Amos 5:18

For when they say, "Peace and safety!" then sudden destruction comes upon them” 1 Thess. 5:3

For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be”             Matthew 24:21

I just cannot understand it when I hear 'Christians' say and teach that the CHURCH will go through this terrible time. It's as if they actually want to experience it! I praise God that He has made it plain in His word that the TRUE CHURCH will be taken out before the DAY OF THE LORD comes upon this world.

I'm not looking for TRIBULATION, TROUBLE and TERRIBLE DARKNESS, or the MAN OF SIN who is coming to rule the earth. I'm looking for MY SAVIOUR JESUS, my wonderful REDEEMER. I'm waiting for THE TRUMPET TO SOUND and am longing to hear THE VOICE OF THE ARCHANGEL as I rise up to meet my blessed SAVIOUR.

Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him” Romans 5:9

And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come” 1 Thess.1:10

For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ” 1 Thess. 5:9

I pray that you are with me on this!

Brotherly love....Pastor Keith
