January already! The YMH Executive hopes everyone had a relaxing and fun holiday season. We are excited to see everyone back on the ice for more hockey!

Parkland Fire Female Update

We are very happy to announce that the Yorkton - Melville Parkland Hockey Program Committee (Parkland Fire) has formed a Novice All-Girls Carded Team and an Atom All-Girls Carded Team. The girls playing on these teams are coming from Yorkton, Melville, Langenburg, Canora, Grenfell, Esterhazy and other Parkland regions. The coaches for the teams are Jeff Lendvoy, Kevin Rawlick, Murray Kittleson, and Kelly Hildebrandt.

These teams will attend female tournaments over the next couple of months and are thrilled to be playing together.

The Parkland Fire will be hosting a Female Showcase February 16-17, 2019. The tournament will showcase Novice, Atom, Peewee and Bantam Divisions and will be played in both the Yorkton and Melville rinks. We are very excited to feature these all-female teams and the girls playing are very excited to be showcased.

Every year at the annual awards, YMH strives to recognize certain persons in our organization. The Executive will soon ask our membership for nominations for a Coach, Business, Unsung Hero and Volunteer of the year.

Coach of the Year Award is presented to an individual for his/her outstanding commitment and contribution to coaching.
-- You can nominate anyone on your bench staff. Has someone been especially inspirational to your child this year? Or maybe you notice all the hours your coach has spent planning good practices? Does someone on the bench give great feedback and positive messaging throughout the game?
Business of the Year Award is presented to a business for its outstanding contributions to Yorkton Minor Hockey.
-- Do you know of a worthy business that has been exceptional at showing support to your player, your team or your division, or maybe to all of YMH? Do you know of a business that is always promoting hockey? Perhaps there is one business that helped your team or your tournament raise a few extra funds?
Unsung Hero Award is presented to a player or volunteer that shows sportsmanship, dedication, enthusiasm and genuine love for the game.
-- Do you know of a player, a family member of a player, a volunteer, or a fan who deserves recognition for their magnetically positive and enthusiastic behaviors around the rink? Someone who always has a kind word and a positive word? Who pitches in where they can and loves the game?!
Volunteer of the Year Award is presented to an individual for his/her outstanding contributions to Yorkton Minor Hockey.
-- Can you think of someone who did a little extra this year with your team, your division or with the tournament? Maybe you know of someone who worked their volunteer shifts and took a few extra to be helpful. Someone always your jersey person/treasurer/manager year after year? Someone new to hockey who always volunteers wherever they can?

Keep this in mind over the next few months so that you too can nominate a deserving person when nominations open! Hopefully your nomination will win!

Novice Half-Ice Game Structure and Regulations for the 2019/20 Playing Season

Regulations Concerning Novice Hockey

Half-ice - All Games till December 31
Exhibition - Start date November 15th
Tournament Games - Start date December 1st
League Games:- Start date - Full Ice after January 1st
League Playoffs:- Must be Tournament style format over no more than two weekends.
Maximum Number of Games in a Season: 45 games

IP Game Structure and Regulations for the 2019/20 Playing Season

Regulations Concerning IP Hockey

NO IP exhibition games or Tournaments will be sanctioned until till December 1 annually
All IP "play" until December 1 is practices
Maximum Number of Games in a Season: 35 games
