Private Investment Mobilization

CCS Launches Incubation and Pilot Program for New Capacities and Tools

Accra, Ghana – In partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and its NDC Support Programme, the Center for Climate Strategies (CCS) launched a multi-year incubation training and pilot program in Ghana to mobilize investments for standardized and aggregated projects that meet global climate stabilization and national sustainable development goals (SDGs). This is the first in a series of national pilot programs for private investment mobilization to support low carbon development and climate stabilization in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

Over 40 business leaders, financial institutions representatives, entrepreneurs, programme and product developers, policy advisors and government officials in Ghana have started an intensive process that builds new capacities, tools and teams in the country to re-think low carbon development through the lens of the policy maker, developer, consumer, business, and financial community’s needs.

The training program integrates country level needs and results into a curriculum with tools that will be incubated in a country education institution, the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). CSIR serves as the hub for long term training and mainstreaming of this program in Ghana. Training participants in Ghana will select a pilot case for learning by doing and transformation of low carbon policy actions into a portfolio of investable products at full market scale.

The CCS PIM project is supported by the New York Community Trust and other donors. For more details on the Ghana program, read this UNDP Blog.
