Zumba® will be offered in the Well, starting the first Friday in February from 12pm-1pm. Instructor led, ZUMBA®  is perfect for everybody and every body! Each Zumba® class is designed to bring people together to sweat it out.

How It Works
Zumba® takes the "work" out of workout, by mixing low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party. Once the Latin and World rhythms take over, you'll see why Zumba® Fitness classes are often called exercise in disguise. Super effective? Check. Super fun? Check and check.

Benefits
A total workout, combining all elements of fitness – cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility, boosted energy and a serious dose of awesome each time you leave class.
DO YOU EXPERIENCE ANXIETY OR NERVOUSNESS THAT IS PREVENTING YOU FROM ENJOYING LIFE?

If so, you are not alone and this group may be for you!  Come join others who have similar experiences and learn effective tools for taking control over anxiety. You will learn:
  • Where anxiety comes from?
  • Breathing techniques
  • Progressive Muscle Relaxation
  • Worry blocking
  • Retraining your thoughts
  • Mindfulness
  • Helpful dietary hints
  • And much much more!

Brush Away the Winter Blues
By Joanna Juszczak, Community Developer & Events Coordinator

With all the cold weather it can be easy to choose to stay indoors this winter. But participating in activities and programs and engaging with people will make the cold months feel a lot warmer. Here’s how:

STAY ACTIVE
There is no doubt that physical activity offers great physical and mental health benefits. This is due to the release of endorphins. These are considered nature’s painkillers, and they bring about feelings of euphoria and well-being. It can also lead to lower levels of depression, fatigue, and stress. At the CHC we offer many different programs to stay active such as Yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi, Walking Program, Chair Fitness, etc. Plus, we have our gym that is available for you to use! Check out our program calendar for full details!

BE SOCIAL
Whether it’s going for a coffee with a friend, or joining a club, interacting with others boosts feelings of well-being, improves your mood, and you may even be less likely to catch a cold! We offer many ways you can come out and get social with programs such as Community Café, Indoor Walking and The Well Drop-In. Make sure you are following our Facebook page for updates on upcoming programs and activities.

STAY SHARP
Keeping your brain active will ensure your brain is always expanding and staying sharp! Read a new book or do a puzzle. You can also learn something new and come out to our Lunch N’ Learn Series the first Tuesday of every month. Enjoy learning from various guest speakers on various topics.

PLAN ACTIVITIES YOU ENJOY
When you participate in activities you enjoy, it will give you a sense of purpose and excitement. So think about what you like to do such as nature walks, museums, games, crocheting, or watching movies. You can also be open to something new which you’ve never done before!
