It was 1994, and I was a 25-year-old college grad seeking purpose when the vision for Demoiselle 2 Femme was birthed in my heart. The dream was for girls to receive love, wisdom, guidance and experiences that would support them to become successful, virtuous women. I was elated to share the dream with Romanetha Looper who co-labored with me in our humble beginnings starting with 14 girls, on December 10th, at Faith Temple Church of God in Christ in Englewood.
This year Demoiselle 2 Femme, NFP will celebrate 25 years of providing education, programs and services to over 7,000 girls; traveling across the country with over 500 girls on our annual Summer Leadership Tours; supporting nearly 1,000 girls to become first generation college graduates; awarding over $52,000 in academic scholarships; successfully launching a citywide coalition and several entities; creating an evidence-based curriculum; conducting, publishing and presenting local and national research; and building a network of over 100 partner organizations. So many lives touched, so many victories won… to God be the Glory!
It is with great joy that I pass the torch of leadership to one of our own- a daughter of D2F, Tori Tyler. Tori is one of the original 14 girls who began this journey with us back in 1994. She has served D2F as the Director of Programs and the Director of Development. I am honored that God entrusted us to nurture and cultivate her leadership for such a time as this. Tori received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Hampton University, a Master of Science

degree in Clinical Psychology from Roosevelt University, and she is the proprietor of Mosaic Masterpieces. More importantly, Tori is a woman of virtue who has a passion for girls and has been called by God for this generation. Tori, I honor you and eagerly await the GREATER WORKS which will be accomplished under your leadership.
This has been the journey of a lifetime and the completion of a dream. It is a testimony that dreams can come true as well as inspire others to pursue their dreams. It's time to let go ... and watch it GROW. I am excited for the territory that is before me as I begin a new journey with an even bigger dream! I would like to thank my family (especially my parents) for supporting D2F over the years- thanks for believing in the vision God gave me. A special thanks to our founding board (Lisa, Cynthia, Joyce and Roma) for your years of dedication and service. I would also like to thank the Femme mentors, staff (current and former), board members (past and present), funders, donors, volunteers, parents, school principals/administrators and community partners for your continuous support.
I am overwhelmed with gratitude for ALL OF THE GIRLS, many of whom are now young women accomplishing great things. Every sacrifice made was worth it to see you living at your best. Remember, you have the “power to choose success over failure!” The sky is the limit for what you can achieve. Be great in God!
