Hello there and Happy 2019!

At ten days into the New Year, you’ve likely been inundated with trends to look ahead for in 2019. But what about what you want to keep consistent??

O
ur consistently savvy product marketing clients have proved that true and successful sales enablement means rallying around one consistent (and creative!) message. Because, yes, both of those things can happen at the same time.

It's a delicate balance to stay fresh, stay relevant, and stay aligned—injecting pinches of creativity into the same story you're telling over and over again. Whether it be a multi-channel digital campaign, a series of tweets, communication with clients, or outward-facing sales material, I don't need to remind you why consistency is important. Humans don't like surprises unless they come in the form of Beyoncé/JAY-Z albums.

What you might like are some fresh takes on how to maintain consistency well into your New Year. (Are you still flossing everyday??) C'mon, let's take on 2019 together.

Whoomp! There it is

Andy Raskin tells it like it is.

For more of these thruth-bombs, Raskin's LinkedIn and Medium are absolutely worth following.

Keys to consistency...

I asked fellow Rancheros to name brands or companies that pop into "Top of Mind" when we think "Consistency"
  • Of course, big names like Coca-Cola, Louis Vuitton, and Warby Parker came up (all having been commended in the past for their consistent messaging and branding). However, a few standout smaller companies included French Paper, a cutie print design company that Rancheros Allie and Lindsay hadn't forgotten since college days. I was even drawn to consider Chicago Bagel Authority (CBA), a beloved steamed bagel joint whose newsletter I refuse to unsubscribe from even years after moving away. Their copy is so hilarious and the bagels, so steamy. Conclusion: consistency is steamy, ya'll. And inspiration may be found down the street at your local sandwich shop.
Quality > Quantity. Be in it for the long haul Make reinvention consistent
  • This dude redesigns his portfolio every year. While that inherently means his site and style look different, as a UX designer staying on top of trends and the latest market know-how, this may be the best and most consistent way to "practice what you preach."
Find your artichoke Writer's block, you say?
  • Hubspot's Blog Ideas Generator allows you to type in a single noun and get back a week's worth of consistent prompts. (An entire year of ideas comes with a worthwhile pricetag).
And of course, remember to thank YOU for putting in consistent effort day in, day out...
What's more consistent than Snoop Dogg on a loop, nodding you onward.
Again and again and again...
Know a brand/company/person/rapper that embodies the definition of consistency?
Pass 'em on, we're consistently intrigued by new brains to learn from:

All this is to say that while the New Year is an apt time to try new things (get that Instapot already!), take stock of your output and overall brand messaging to ensure consistency,  thus, furthering your foundation onward.

Consistently yours,
-Molly
