There are so many ways to stay connected with friends, colleagues, and family. But can "social" platforms really replace the face-to-face connection? Something as simple as eye contact, or knowing someone is with you in real time, makes a huge difference. We are really excited about companies that understand this need, like Journey with live meditation, or Focusmate with virtual co-working but with accountable partners. Read on to learn about more tech built for using with friends.
BETAWORKS STUDIOS
Leave the Reddit thread at home and come be social. We are taking the famous AMA offline and bringing it to life here at Studios. Join us on Thursday 1/17/19 at 6 PM for the next installment of “Ask Me Anything Live”, our new series that features giants of the New York startup and investment scene. Our own fearless leader, John Borthwick, will take the stage to answer any and all of your questions — seriously, nothing is off limits! Reserve your spot now.
BETAWORKS VENTURES
"Just like Twitch unlocked the gaming experience, Squad unlocks your phone experience so you can share your apps with friends."

You may remember Esther Crawford from Botcamp and the Q&A app Molly. Her newest project is called Squad. It all started with the question: "What if social apps were actually social?" Squad lets you share your phone screen with friends, giving a truly social experience while interacting with your favorite apps. Imagine: instead of sending your friend a link to a funny video on Instagram, you can watch it together, at the same time.

On ProductHunt, users are already discovering alternative applications: like tech support for parents, or teaching Grandma how to text! Read more about the genesis of the app, and download the beta in the App Store.
BETAWORKS CAMP
"[Bunch] brings a real-time social dimension to a class of digital games that were once only associated with isolated one-player or asynchronous turn-based experiences."

Livecamp team Bunch was recently profiled in Forbes. As the world of live gaming grows bigger and bigger by the second, how do these newcomers compete with the Goliaths of the industry, like Twitch and Discord? Read more about how their focus on mobile put them ahead of the live gaming crowd.

Psssst! There's still time: apply to our next program, Synthetic Camp.
