PITTSBURGH, PA - Allegheny County Sheriff William P. Mullen announces the arrest of Justin Dahlheimer, 23, Sioux City, IA, for a criminal bench warrant issued Tuesday. On December 20, 2018, Dahlheimer was convicted of Indecent Assault and Disorderly Conduct relating to an arrest on August 6, 2018 at the Greyhound bus station in downtown Pittsburgh. Dahlheimer was a passenger on a Greyhound bus when he sexually assaulted an unknown female passenger while she was sleeping during the ride. The victim reported that she woke up while Dahlheimer was touching her breasts and legs. Authorities were notified and Dahlheimer was arrested at the bus station.
Dahlheimer was sentenced to a two-year period of probation and alternative housing. Dahlheimer absconded the Remnant House, Munhall, PA, on Saturday, January 5, 2019, and he has no known ties to Pittsburgh. It was apparent to Remnant House staff that Dahlheimer was attempting to return to Iowa.
Last night (January 10, 2019) at approximately 11:10 pm, Sheriff's Lieutenant Jack Kearney, who was off duty, observed Dahlheimer running on Smithfield Street near Boulevard of the Allies. Knowing that Dahlheimer was wanted, Lt. Kearney notified other detectives who immediately responded and assisted in apprehending Dahlheimer downtown. He was arrested without incident, and he is currently incarcerated in the Allegheny County Jail. Sheriff's detectives will be additionally charging Dahlheimer with failing to register as a sex offender.
