create momentum
Hi, Friend

I hear quite often, "I'm just not motivated."

The person saying it usually means something like:

I'm not motivated to get up, find my workout clothes, tie my shoes, drive to the gym, go inside, find an open treadmill, spend 45 minutes using it, drive home, take a shower, then get ready for the rest of my day.

Or, I'm not motivated to - after working a full week - sit down on Saturday mornings, make a menu for the upcoming week, draft a grocery list, drive to the store, shop, come home, put away groceries, clean up the kitchen, then start cutting and chopping and prepping meals.

Sounds exhausting!

And that's likely the code behind the I'm not motivated statement: I'm exhausted; I'm overwhelmed just thinking about handling all of these tiny actions that go into creating this one bigger habit. It's easier to hit the snooze button and skip the gym. It's easier to order takeout - again.

What we lack often is momentum, not motivation.

Momentum starts with a tiny step. Followed by another tiny step.

It's laying out the workout clothes and shoes the night before you intend to go to the gym. It's searching up new recipes on your lunch hour on Tuesday, instead of leaving it all 'til Saturday. It's breaking down any big plan into smaller, actionable steps.

And then by taking tiny step after tiny step, we create momentum. Momentum leads to motivation. Small results lead to more results.

Commit to 10 Powerful Minutes

So next time you're faced with a goal and think you lack motivation, break it down into the tiniest pieces possible and do just one. Then do another. See where it leads.

I'm here for support if you need it.

With grace and space for a healthier you,

amy
