The organizations and programs funded by the Phoenix IDA in 2018 are making a significant difference across the community - from early childhood literacy programs to career skills training. The Phoenix IDA team is visiting each funded organization to see their work first-hand.
Below are highlights from recent visits.

Southwest Human Development - Early Language and Literacy: An Investment in the Future
Funding will assist in expanding early language and literacy outcomes for low-income children/families in Phoenix. Programs include Raising A Reader, Reach Out and Read, Tell Me a Story, and little libraries. The programs will serve 21,200 children, parents, caregivers, and distribute 8,300 books (to be matched dollar-for-dollar by Reading is Fundamental).

A Stepping Stone Foundation - LEAF (Literacy Elevates Arizona Families)
Funding will provide 40 families with preschool, English and/or GED preparation education, home visits, parenting classes and intergenerational activities attending Westwood Elementary and Bret Tarver Isaac Preschools. LEAF goals are to prepare preschool-aged children for success in school, promote adult literacy and English language mastery; and provide parenting education so parents can support the developmental growth of their children.
