President of the Board

The market on Saturday, January 12 could not have been more different from the market last Saturday.

Sunny skies and 60 degree weather sure make a difference. Our valued vendors and customers were back!

The market on Saturday, January 19 will be the first for Sweet Abe's Baking Company. If you're looking for gluten-free and vegan bakery products, stop by Sweet Abe's and check out their delectable selection. Myself, I'm hoping they will have their carrot cake muffins on Saturday.

Also on January 19, Long Meadow Ranch will be rejoining us after a brief hiatus. Among other things, they will be bringing their grass-fed beef, olive oil and the only wines available at the market.

Another returning vendor on the 19th is Nature's Candy Company. They have been gone from the market since 2016, so we're very happy to have them back with their wonderful selection of almonds and dried fruits.

Next Saturday will feel like old home week. Hope to see you at the market!

The Napa Farmers Market is part of the Napa County MLK Coalition!
We're helping spread the word about two days of compassion and inspired action next week on Sunday, Jan. 20 and Monday, Jan. 21!
On January 26, local Enrolled Agents (EA), “America’s Tax Experts,” will be at the market to answer questions on a wide variety of tax topics. EA volunteers will not charge for answering questions on this day and will not prepare any returns, nor will they provide any written advice or bill anyone. Bring any relevant tax documents and information with you, so your EA volunteer can better assist you!

Vendor Spotlight
Long Meadow Ranch
After a break, we are very excited to announce the return of Rutherford's own Long Meadow Ranch! In addition to their sustainably farmed winter veggies, they will be bringing grass-fed beef and lamb. Laddie and Graham's favorite part about selling at our market is: "The feeling of community between the vendors and customers." Be sure to stop by their stall to welcome them back!

Protein: 12
Fiber: 7

Ingredients
Pasta
  • 4 oz. dried, multigrain vermicelli or spaghetti
  • 2 tsp. curry powder
Sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tsp. cornstarch
  • 1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/3 cup fresh orange juice
  • 2 tsp. grated orange zest
Stir Fry
  • 1 tsp. oil
  • 1/2 cup thinly sliced onion
  • 2 cups broccoli florets (about 5 ounces), cut into bite-size pieces
  • 1 cup thinly sliced cabbage
  • 1 cup chopped carrots (cut into matchstick-size strips)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted, unoiled peanuts (dry-roasted)
Directions
  1. Prepare the pasta using the package directions, omitting the salt and oil and adding the curry powder. Drain well in a colander.
  2. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, combine the sugar, soy sauce, balsamic vinegar, cornstarch, red pepper flakes, and orange juice, stirring until the cornstarch is completely dissolved. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat and boil for one minute. Remove from the heat. Stir in the orange zest. Set aside.
  3. In a large nonstick skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat, swirling to coat the bottom. Cook the onion for one minute. Stir in the broccoli, cabbage, and carrots. Cook for four minutes, or until just tender-crisp, stirring frequently.
  4. Transfer the pasta to a serving platter. Top with the broccoli mixture. Pour the sauce over all. Sprinkle with the peanuts.
