Koehne's Corner
January 12th 2019

The beginning of a semester is a great thing for everyone. It is a completely new start; a fresh slate. It isn’t very often in life we have the opportunity to start completely new. Students can walk into their classes and establish good work habits and do everything in their power to be successful. Any mistakes or missed assignments from last semester are gone. They can’t affect the second semester grades.

As we start the new semester teachers will work hard to establish better habits. New lesson plans are created and an opportunity to reset and build better relationships with their students lies before them. Students may not realize it, but teachers get as excited about new starts as their students.

I found all of this interesting as I read Proverbs 16:3 last week. It says, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.” We are called to commit to the Lord. When that happens He establishes the plans. As we get this new start we often try to put a plan in place. Instead of making a plan on our own and trying to figure it all out, God calls us to commit to Him. What I have learned in my life when I do this is that His plans for me are so much better than my own plans. As we begin this new year, try to commit yourself to the Lord and see where He leads you.
