- Illuminated Letters Calligraphy Workshop, Bedford House, Westbury Road, Buckhurst Hill. Draw, paint, and gild your own illuminated capital letter. No experience necessary (10am-3pm). SATURDAY, JANUARY 19 - Epping Chorus concert, St John's Church, St John's Road, Epping (7.30pm). The programme will feature Dvorak's Mass in D and John Rutter's Dancing Day. The organist is Jonathan Lilley with harpist Rachel Bartels. The conductor is the choir's musical director Simon Winters. Admission free.

- Waltham Abbey Wool Show, Waltham Abbey Marriott Hotel Old Shire Lane, Waltham Abbey (10am-4pm). Hand-dyed yarns handmade wool and felt items, unique knit and crochet kits, accessories from buttons to crochet hooks for sale, demonstrations of spinning, weaving, rag-rugging and Big Knitting plus a selection of craft workshops. Best Funky Hat competition (no pre-registration required) judged by VIP guest designer Louise Tilbrook at 12.30pm. Free skein winding service and free parking for show visitors.
